As an out of state parent to a student at BCTC, I was not happy to hear about engine trouble on my daughter's car. Through a local friend's advice, we had her car towed to Ferrell's and they were able to check it out within a day of arrival. Donnie was extremely friendly, shared the the same concerns as a Dad himself, and helped this Dad feel much better about the repair work needed. What I thought was going to be an expensive fix, turned out to be a very reasonable repair bill. They had her back on the road in 24 hours and and I could not be happier with their service. Thanks!Service: Engine repair

I went in yesterday to make an appointment and was told to bring the car in this evening at 5:30. The older blonde/ginger man (possibly Donnie Wishbash) who I was scheduling the appointment with didn't even take our phone number or names, although, I gave him both my husband's and my names, unasked. He definitely was not saying that they close at 5:30. He said "we can see you at 5:30 tomorrow. Our next appointment is next Monday." I then texted my husband to verify that he would be available at 5:30 today, because, he was going to have to leave work an hour early for us to make that time. I stood there, in that office, while I texted my husband and-when he said we could make a 5:30 appointment today, I told the gentleman at Ferrell's that we would take it.I called at 4:24 today to verify our appointment time because I couldn't remember and-with 2 small children-it was easier to call than go through over 24 hours of text messages to find the answer. Good thing I did! The guy who made the appointment LIED and said "4". Then, he gave me this spiel about how he would never have scheduled an appointment after 4pm when they close at 5:30. In addition, both when I made the appointment and when I called to verify the time, he was rude and clearly didn't want our business or money.Well, I did go through my texts, dude. And I verified that we were told 5:30. I would not have made an appointment for today at 4. That would require my husband leave work 3 hours early. I would simply have taken the appointment next Monday, when my husband doesn't work and it wouldn't have put us out to come in. Everything about this man's attitude when I made the appointment and when I called to verify. I firmly believe he was just trying to get rid of me and to have me return when no one was there (they close at 5:30, the time we were told to return) to find out what he had done, and that he believed we would be too mad to return.Message received: you guys are so successful, you don't need or want new business. Next time have the testicular fortitude to just say "I'm sorry. We don't want to do business with you".

The gentleman that run the shop are friendly and extremely helpful. I will bring all my vehicles here because they don't push unnecessary work and explain things in detail. Best auto service experience I have ever had.

PLEASE find a different place to bring your vehicle. I have an older vehicle ('76 MG Midget), so I called prior to bringing it in to see if they could work on it. In all fairness the owner Don did say "your car is older than most of my workers" but said he would work on it. (This was probably a red flag that I ignored) When I got there the workers were well over the age of my vehicle and in fact were probably working on cars when my car rolled out of the lot brand new. I brought my car to Don on 9/9/22. Over the next 2 weeks I had to call at least 4 times before he was even willing to put it up on a lift (had to find another "dry" and not used lift so he didn't occupy his main one). He claimed that it might be hard to find parts and didn't want it to slow down his business. While I completely understand this - I told him that the car I have for whatever reason is VERY easy to find parts for. I actually gave him a dealer (Moss Motors) that has everything he would need and IN STOCK. Once he finally got my car lifted it took another week for him to give me a diagnosis (and only gave it to me after I called him several more times). Don will do NOTHING AT ALL unless you motivate him. He finally told me that it was the differential that needed to be replaced. He said his dealers don't carry parts that old and then just stopped talking leaving me to fill in the blanks. I said "would you like me to order the part for you"?? He said "I guess" . I told him that I have no car experience and would need him to show me what part to order. He reluctantly agreed. I then expressed my frustration to my husband who called Don back and asked him to order the part. Don said he would however complained that he didn't want his money held up ordering parts (YOU DO THIS FOR A LIVING). Instead of him ordering the parts my husband ended the conversation with "can you at least put together a quote for us". That was a Friday morning. No one called us with an estimate. We called on Monday morning and Don had put nothing together for us and agreed to have an estimate to us by the end of the day. He finally called with an estimate of $2,400 out the door. This was to include the part (marked up) and 6 hours of labor. We initially decided this was too much and told him that we would have it towed to another place that actually wanted to work on the car. That was at the end of the day on Tuesday. Tuesday night I decided that by the time I had it towed somewhere else and paid them to re-diagnose it I would probably pay more. So my husband called him first thing Wednesday morning and told him to just do the work. Don told him that he had taken in 2 vehicles since the afternoon before and he would have to put my vehicle at the bottom of his list and wouldn't even start on it for 2 weeks. I decided to still let him do the work because I have to travel for the next 2 weeks and figured at least it will be ready when I return. Don could not guarantee the work would be done in 2.5 weeks (.5 weeks has more than 6 hours of labor in it!!) AND then said that his "out the door" price actually included $300 more for diagnosing. We obviously told him we would tow it. BUT I just had to call him to tell him how dissatisfied I was with his unprofessional, lazy and just plain jerk of an attitude. IF HE DIDN'T WANT TO WORK ON MY CAR HE SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME FROM THE START. While I was on the phone with him he told me again how he wouldn't be able to find the part at his dealers. I told him for the 100th time "here is where to order them from - Moss Motors, they are in stock" He told me that waiting for 3-5 days (DAYS not WEEKS) for a part to arrive was too long and he was too broke to wait that long. I told him that I would have happily ordered the part for him or given him a down payment. Instead, he just jerked me around for 3 weeks and wasted my time. He then complained that it one of the reasons it took him so long to put it on the "dry" lift was that on

So far, so good. Not the best communicators; you will feel like you need to verify what they tell you. But my experience has been decent. One visit - slightly lower than dealer. Another visit - exactly the same as dealer. As for timing - same mixed results. One visit - super fast. Another visit - many extra days. Upside is that the work has held with no follow up issues. I might be up for a return visit.

Replaced the part of the drive shaft. A tractor trailer tire got wrapped around it and broke the seal. I had differial fluid leaking. They got me in and went above and beyond to get the parts to fix my car so I could get home, 9 hours away.

Nobody likes having their car worked on, but going to Ferell's really takes a lot of that stress away. Everyone here is super friendly, kind, and honest about repairs. We've taken both vehicles here for a bit now and we've never felt like we needed a second option or felt like we were being lied to about what's wrong.

Honest and friendly service with great pricing. It makes a Mom happy to know there is a reliable, honest mechanic in the town where her daughter goes to college. They took care of the problem that my daughter’s car was having, as well as checked it over to ensure it was safe for her. I will recommend Ferrell’s to anyone I know in Lexington, KY. Fantastic service- they deserve more than 5 starts!
