2.4 rating with 190+ reviews. I’m actually shocked it’s that high! This company will create a fake online account for you that you have no access to and then randomly shut off your gas saying you’re “delinquent” even though there was no way to pay them if you don’t have access to your account. They charge a $205 reconnect fee after they pull this shady maneuver. You can talk to one of the managers, Jacob, but he will be 0 help as he’s just a corporate tool feeding you the same company lines. Seems they know gas is slowly going away so they will pull shady maneuvers to try to gaslight you and grab all the money they can before that happens. Stay far away from this company and their “business practices”. Or have your lawyer on speed dial.

Bought a new home and had Columbia gas out to install a meter and start service…the technician left insulation from my attic all over my upstairs hallway. I am a professional HVAC technician for a 5⭐️ company in Lexington and would be fired if I left a mess like this in a customer’s home…not pictured is the vacuum leaning against the wall not 10 feet away…pure laziness

I live on a little old street in Georgetown Kentucky. A while back Columbia Gas started working on every street in the neighborhood. Maybe 10 or 12 streets total. Running new gas line on every one. I thought at first they were going pretty slow until I realized they were also working in conjunction with killing the old line as well. A live line with gas. I realized how dangerous that was and that they weren't being slow, but safe, to get the job done safely. Over the past few months while they worked I have just watched, from a distance, until they got to Avondale Avenue. They worked a few weeks getting all the homes connected and the worked from one end to the other. Once they had finished the connections and road patches they turned right around and tore out al the road patches and reinstalled them.
They did a hell of a job on the road. I wish more roads in Georgetown had the Gas company doing their repairs. I mean it was real nice.
A week later they came back and tore the top layer off of the road, swept and cleaned the streets, posted signs from one end to the other. The net day they cam back and put a fresh layer of asphalt down. They did the entire street. They did a wonderful job from begining to end, and taking their time to be safe. The men who do the work did not mind answering questions and showing me how things worked.
I recommend that some people go out, talk to them, see what's going on and what to expect. Watch, wait and see just what they do, and how. Most importantly, wait for the finished product. See just how they do leave your neighborhood once the work is done. You'll be very happy at the results.
BTW, I am not now, or ever been, employed by the Columbia gas company. I am a retired Navy Submarine sailor, retired with nothing to do but observe and write reviews.
**UPDATE**
I received a reply to my review which was unexpected and very nice to see, it was saying he would get the word down to his crew... I hope he does. I hope the men doing the job actually hear that they are doing a damn good, safe job. All jobs take time, and there is so much involved with what they have to do, so it takes even more time, but they're doing it safe... Thank you again.

Absolutely ridiculous customer service. Would give 0 stars if that was an option. Technicians were a joke & so is their phone line, 30 min of waiting on the phone to repeatedly get hung up on.
This appointment was to turn on the gas & start the water heater (which would’ve taken less than 10 minutes) for a rental property in Lexington, which I currently live in Louisville, so I already had to make an hour drive out to the house. I had an appointment with a time frame from 2-4pm & they came at 3:40pm, walked into the house for 2 minutes went back out to the truck & came up with the excuse that he had an emergency call he had to immediately go to. Said he’d call out for another person to come out or he’d be back out himself. I waited until I could no longer wait due to having another appointment in Louisville that I had to get to before 6pm.
Did not receive a call back until after 7pm, a whole 3 hours after the end of the original appointment time to come back out. Wasted my whole day & still had the audacity to want to reschedule for the following day. I have one day off from work a week & did not appreciate having to spend it waiting on inefficient technicians, & will not be wasting my time again.

These people are butt holes, they don't care if you got gas or not,they won't give you extension when you need it if only a matter of few weeks, no help thereThey just don't care about youSorry utility.i see why this is the worst utility you have to fill withI read the other reviews on this gas company, and I see why people have switch to electricI have to do the switch toCustomer service stinks!!!!!!.why is this company getting away with this,the reviews are horrible, they let your property blow up ,before they would come and see about a leak or other problems, I will be talking to our new mayor about this company, I think we need a change for sure!!!!.will comment on this matter at a later time.Customer service will tell you anything to get you off the phoneThey un experienced. They are a joke .. I keep my heat on 68 - 70 . My gas bill was fing 250 each month for the pass to months . I used to pay anywhere. From 150 to 175 a month... That was even a bigger house . Now I'm in a small house it's almost double what I paid for a bigger house. . . I'ma call someone and have them investigate. They are robbing people blind for something that comes out the ground . . . And is made by the earth . This company is worse than most criminals...
