Dropped of a truck that stank and barely ran and then got charged an extra 400 dollars. Never again. Save yourself and spend a little more and go with another moving truck company.

My husband and I rented a 16’ truck and trailer for a move from Lexington, KY to Windsor, CT. We had a straightforward experience. Nothing went majorly wrong like the other reviews. I did not look at any reviews prior to booking the budget truck online. Otherwise, I probably would not have booked a budget truck. The pick up experience was straightforward: signed paperwork, waited for the truck to hook up to the trailer, did a walk through, and left. The place was messy but whatever works. They changed the tire of the trailer right in front of us so it took a little while. The interior was clean. The only thing we saw that was sketchy was that there is a check engine light on but it was covered by black tape. Regardless, the truck and the trailer got our stuff and our VW golf to CT without any major issues. (Minor issues: when filling the gas tank, you have to constantly re-angle the gas pump. Also, no back up camera.)

We had a reservation and this place was closed? After they told multiple customers they would be open, us and four other customers sat outside an empty shop waiting to get our trucks. We all had to cancel.

Got call from gentleman as I was leaving Louisville Airport at 10:21a. I distinctly explained I was over hour and half away from location. He did say he takes lunch at noon to 1p, but said he knew I was on my way. I called at 11:25a, 11:28a, 11:36a and again at 11:52a to inform him I was en route and to let him know what my ETA was currently according to GPS. I never could get anyone to answer. I get there exactly at 12:04p and run in and gentleman behind counter (that I later realize is not part of Budget Rental) is on personal call (blatantly obvious). He reluctantly gets off phone, addresses me, then states guy from Budget is on lunch. I explain I need this truck to move my daughter off if college campus and that she has specific move-out time at 1p (I explained that to Budget rep when he called me. He calls rep, has him on speaker phone, and rep is rude that it's my fault, he told me he took lunch at noon, but that he'd come back. I waited 20 minutes for his return. He reminded me of his lunch when he was doing truck rental two more times. The van he rented to me (not the box truck I reserved) had dried mud inside on walls as well as floor of cargo area. Granted, the van is newer model, approximately less than 2 years old, it had no USB ports, no Bluetooth, etc, yet he claimed the van was much better than had I gotten the box truck I expected. I then had to buy plug-in ports for our chargers, only to discover the ports weren't always working. As we are doing payment, he then charges my card, but he fees declined message. I asked him to please wait a moment because I get notification for large expenses. I got the notification, I accepted it, then fave him go ahead. He said he had already tried it again! So I ended up having 2 declined transactions for $972 two times (still unsure why those amounts), then the original transaction for $825 and then another charge (which I was able to dispute thru my card company)for $747. Needless to say, this was an experience I hope I don't have to repeat.

This is more of a review of the entire Budget Experience than of this specific location because I booked my truck online. My best advice is Budget isn't really that "budget" when all is said and done. I booked a 12' truck online and the price for 3 days was $369. However, they don't tell you that this does not include taxes, fees, insurance, additional fees per driver, etc. In the end, my budget truck came in at $600. When arriving, it seemed as though the Budget business is just a side gig and no one was thrilled to have someone renting a truck. I was also informed they NEVER have 12' foot trucks and was put in a 16' truck that was in rough shape. (I had reservation numbers and screen shots to show I had reserved a 12'). A 16' truck is much more difficult than a 12'. When returning the car in Winston Salem NC, there was a sign for truck return but absolutely no attendant! I phoned three times and was told to call back again at a later time. We finally wondered around and found the car rental office in another location. The place was deserted save for one employee who was on the phone. Finally returned the truck. Anyway, got there in one piece but I'm going with Penske next time. They are more expensive up front but in the end, it comes out to be about the same price, you can get a smaller truck and they have back up cameras!

Was given a truck with no transmission fluid. They told me they checked all the fluids not true. Moving from Georgetown to Texas. Made it to Princeton Kentucky. 3 hours into my trip before transmission went out on truck. Stranded for 2 days before another truck was provided. Had to spend my own money on a hotel. Not to mention stranded on the side of road for 7 hours before the tow truck came. Budget truck rental in general is a joke. But this place here in Lexington should be shut down

I was moving from kinyucky to pa and had to have a tow dolly for my car so unfortunately i had to rent a 16 ft truck.3 days before my pick up date i was informed of no tow dolly because one could not be found.???I had to make other arrangements for my car. I then wanted a smaller truck, i was told there weren't any other sizes.I picked up my truck and the middle seat was broke and a softball size crack in windshield. Owner if this locale didnt point it out to me.?Unfortunately i still had to use this truck. I called budget and they said that the owner should have called it in for repairs. ?. This is a hazard. Unsafe.?I told budget i will never rent from them again. I should have used U-Haul.

This place is of course an auto repair shop doing Budget because they couldn't cut it. Glum employees and location. The guy complaining about parts getting stolen off their trucks at night. No bathroom for customers because it's broken. Broken bathroom is an old story, it's POOR customer service. Maybe employee morale would improve if you had a bathroom for them! Whatever, Kentucky. C-ya.

Was able to get the truck I needed in a timely manner. Some of the pads were missing upon the move, and I was credited back for what was missing. Easy and inexpensive. Be ready to have more taken out of your account as a deposit, but once you’ve moved the extra they’ve taken out will be credited back to you. Will probably use this company if I move again locally.

They think 24 hour notice is enough to let you know they don't have your truck. Would never recommend this place

Moved across country and made reservations well in advance and was given less than 24 hour notice that they would not provide what I reserved (because they were “hard to come by and didn’t want to let one go in case they don’t get another one back soon.” Had I know this in advance I would not have booked with budget. The truck died after arrival and had to wait an hour and a half for someone to repair it. Upon returning at a *different location* I was incorrectly charged $77 for which I had to fight to get $30 of it back. Horrible experience overall.
