Big Blue Strength has been a wonderful influence for me! Paul Muehlbauer is an exceptional personal trainer, especially for beginners. Paul has helped me learn the basics of many of the movements, and helped me improve mobility and strength, often adapting exercises when necessary to ensure they were motivating and constructive.After a few months of personal training I moved on to group sessions. Moving to group sessions with Bennet Mott was a breeze. I was slightly apprehensive to suddenly join group sessions full of people more experienced in their fitness journeys, but the community is welcoming to members at all levels and they respect and celebrate the fact that everyone is at a different place, but all working to improve. Bennet pays attention to each participant of the group classes, making sure everyone is appropriately challenged in each movement, despite the need for making alterations to exercises to accommodate injuries, experience, strength, etc.Additionally, the presence of some adorable dogs, make every visit a joy.A huge shoutout to Paul, Bennet, Melissa for passionately crushing what they do and fostering a remarkable training environment!

Stopped in during Thanksgiving week and immediately felt like part of the team. Would recommend to anyone who lives in Lexington and wants to be the strongest version of themselves.

Big Blue Strength is, simply put, amazing. Melissa (owner) is an amazing coach with a wealth of knowledge and experience as a competitive athlete that shapes how she coaches and runs her gym. She treats each client as an athlete with great potential. She cultivates an environment that fosters success and celebration of each individual athlete’s progression. Melissa and her coaching staff care about clients, will work with you to modify exercises to suit your ability, and will always offer thoughtful and expert feedback that will help you meet your goals. I appreciate Melissa’s commitment to quality and improvement over “just lifting heavy” and know I’m a healthier, stronger, and more focused athlete because of my time here. (Bonus gym dogs also make this place amazing)

After a life change took me away from Big Blue, 2 years ago, I have since returned and the atmosphere is as welcoming, encouraging, and supportive. It felt wonderful to walk back in with more confidence and determination as I knew I would have the expert coaches and equipment and programs to help me achieve any goals I set. It takes time, but the Big Blue coaching team is about progress and correcting habits before they start. I grew in my ability and strength so much after a few weeks of being back. The fellow gym members are the best around and accept you where you are without judgment or competition. If you’re looking for custom one on one coaching in fitness, Pilates, weightlifting, and nutrition, this is your place. Looking for a gym to help you maintain, that’s here too. Need a new environment with small group fitness, they have it. You won’t find high quality, highly educated and experienced coaches at most gyms in town, at Big Blue, that’s all they offer!

My experience at Big Blue Strength has been nothing short of amazing. The staff care about good form and technique and are always kind and supportive. The environment supports people of all ages and efforts and this is important to me in a gym. The equipment is nice and it’s a hard working but fun atmosphere. I love my Big Blue family!

I couldn't imagine myself going anywhere else! I never would’ve thought strength training would be for me, but I really enjoy it and I’m only improving. The coaches are great and very helpful, they make sure you have correct form and technique. The gym itself has a great atmosphere and I love my B.B.S gym!

I am so glad I found Big Blue Strength! I never would have thought that group strength training or Pilates would have been for me, but through various connections and good luck I stumbled upon this place and put my anxieties aside and started coming. It's been one of the best things I've ever done for myself.

Greatest gym in Lexington for safely learning how to get strong, fit, and healthy. Melissa and her staff pay attention to your personal goals, any past injuries, and patiently listen to all of your complaints about not wanting to do burpees or snatches. (But, you still have to do them) - Highly recommended.

We had to relocate but thought about staying in Lexington solely because of this place and the people who own it. Melissa and Mike are two of the greatest people you will meet. This is not just your generic gym. It’s individualized to each person and the people who come to it are one of a kind.
