It has taken me several weeks to decide how to write this review in a way that I don’t sound negative or if I’m bashing anyone. But I do feel awareness needs to be brought to this, and for the memory of my girl. I’m asking anyone who decides to choose this vet for your pet to ensure that if it is a serious situation, to do your research and advocate for your pet which may even lead to getting a second opinion elsewhere from a more experienced facility. I believe the staff at this clinic truly does want the best for animals, and I don’t think anyone there is malicious or not there for the love and care of your pets. However, I’m discouraged. I think that this clinic could improve by having better communication between staff members and owners, and being aware that there are some cases they are just not equipped to handle and that’s okay- but knowing when it’s time to send patients elsewhere when they no longer can offer anything more. I was grateful to be seen by this clinic on a Saturday of a holiday weekend. I brought my healthy 6 year old girl in because she wasn’t eating and throwing up, but otherwise fine. After bloodwork, the relief vet encourages me to leave her over the weekend for fluids because of kidney numbers being elevated and assured me that he felt she would recover and come home. She had never had these issues before. I’m told all weekend about the progress she has made and that she will be ready for pickup on Tuesday. As I’m preparing to pick her up On Tuesday, I’m told a completely different story by Dr. Ray who took over that day. I have a conversation with him where he tells me she is in severe kidney disease stages and she cannot come home. Rather than sending her else where to a more equipped facility, he proceeds to say she cannot come home and needs to stay additional nights. I had to call for updates, thankfully the vet techs were excellent at their job and always kept me updated when I messaged. After being hospitalized for FIVE nights with no progress, he finally says she needs a plasma transfusion due to the amount of fluids she is receiving so quickly to try and balance her kidney numbers, and she is not getting better. In complete shock, I rush to get my dog who is now barely able to walk out the door. I transport her to Louisville Metro where she is tested for hours and I’m informed that she has a severe UTI that has went septic from being left untreated. They tell me they have options of things to try and I opt to leave her overnight for any last effort at saving her. No plasma transfusion was needed, her numbers were fine, she was just being pushed fluids too rapidly in Leitchfield for too long. Louisville confirmed that she should have been sent to them after night one of not improving. Unfortunately, my worst nightmare comes true, and the dog I had just taken for a walk on Saturday is too far gone by the next day and the infection has caused her to go blind and organs are starting to fail. This same night I had to call the same vet that helped me that Saturday to euthanize my girl. Why did Leitchfield never do a urinalysis when they knew her kidney numbers were elevated? That I will never know. It will haunt me forever that I didn’t push for that or question that before it was too late. But that isn’t my job. I can’t keep living with guilt for thinking it’s my fault when I trusted the hands I left her in. Something that could have been treated with antibiotics, took our family member’s life because of careless mistakes. Dr. Ray never called to check on her once we left like the other vets did, nor has he since. I like to look for the good in all people, and I think many good things come from this business. However, I pray they are able to use Akira’s story as a way to grow and improve and not let their pride get in the way of another dog’s life.

We've had a few appointments, and Wilson really likes Dr. Thomas.
He had a bout with rodent ulcers, and after seeing him and taken his medication, he was almost clear at his follow up appointment two weeks later. He is back to eating normally and has stopped yowling at night.
0ur cat Good Fortune is also a new patient, and she is currently on antibiotics from Dr. Thomas.
Our vet appointments were reasonably priced, and I'm happy that my kitties are on the mend.
All staff has been very helpful and knowledgeable, and it's not always easy with two anxious cats who don't feel well.
I would give more than 5 stars if I could.

I was very impressed with Leitchfield Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Todd Ray was friendly, professional, and focused on my beagle, Ruby. He was very attentive as I explained her symptoms and the care I was giving, and then he explained her diagnosis.
The team members were also friendly and compassionate. They made me feel like "part of the family." This was a first time, emergency visit, and although we didn't have an appointment, we were seen in a timely manner. Our final bill was more than fair, and it will not be our last visit.

Took my neighbor there with her kittens. They told her they would treat 3 kittens as one animal since their mother died after being treated by them. Charged her 3 times what they agreed to. They charged her for worm check that was not performed and threatened this little old lady when she did not have enough money to pay their inflated bill. I paid $218 just so I could get her out of there with her kittens before they worked her into a stroke. The woman behind the counter should not be allowed to go out in public.

First time coming here and my cat petrified. The vets and the workers there were very caring with my cat and took very good care of him and made him feel good.

I have taken a few of my pets here. From health maintenance to a broken bone emergency. The staff is very detailed and professional. The veterinarians are experienced, straightforward, and are always about what is best for your pet and you.

Thanks to all the doctors for your professionalism and concern for my cat Midnight Moon who had to have his eye removed surgically. You're the best!

My dog was having seizures episodes. I called every vet in etown and around nonone could take a walk in even though it was clearly an emergency. I called LVC and they took her in no problem. They are so nice and thorough with their work. My dog was a bit nervous. The vet got done in the floor and petted her to make her feel comfortable and calm. This is now my full time vet. Will never go to a different vet again.

The staff at LVC is phenomenal! Regardless of my reasoning for bringing any of may animals to them, they take care of them as if they were there own. For a small town vet, they are always very busy, but will do everything they can to see their patients if they’re able too. I’ve had multiple experiences being an appointment and doing a walk-in and each time, I’ve been grateful that there’s been someone to at least see my animal and make sure they get what they need. Every doctor explains things to me in a way that I understand and handles my pets like they’re theirs. Could things be done to make the process easier or faster, probably… but I’d rather go somewhere that I know will do everything they can and will refer me on to a specialist if needed.

I was thrilled when I thought I found a reliable vet close to our new home in Clarkson - man was I wrong! I first took my dog in when he started to develop "bumps" on his skin and coat, I was told it was nothing to worry about, gave him his vaccines and away we went. Went back a few months later when my bully pulled his ACL (whatever it is in dogs) and after x-rays found he had hip dysplasia too - started meds but was told they were not a long term solution. Tried to get back in to see the vet we like, she was on leave. Finally couldn't wait any longer, booked appointment, arrived 10 minutes early like good clients do, and sat in the waiting room for 72 minutes before finally asking to reschedule, no one at any time told any of us waiting in excess of one hour that they were that far behind schedule! Rescheduled for 0900, FIRST am appointment, how could they be late for that. Sat in the office in an exam room for 45 minutes before abruptly leaving - all I got was, "she hasn't been in yet"... I am not sure if my cash isn't good enough for their establishment, if they don't want to do business with me because I am not a "local" or if they have some bias against my bully breed. Just consider this a note, that if you book an appointment, clear your entire day because you could sit there for HOURS and never get your pet looked at. I have shared my comments with the office and they don't seem to care -

Adapted a kitten from Leitchfield/Grayson Co Humane Society. Turns out, 3 days later he was very, very sick and would of most likely of been dead if Vet's office hadn't of gotten us in right away. Minimal wait time, staff extremely helpful, caring and knowledgeable. The Veterinarian was AMAZING and so gentle with our little boy even though he was a wild thing that day. New patient but now forever patient. If your animal is important to you, I highly recommend trying this clinic. Thank you for saving our BB!
