CARMAX SERVICE TEAM IS DANGEROUSLY INCOMPETENT DO NOT USE! A "popping" sound came front the front end of my vehicle when turning. I had purchased the vehicle from Carmax with extended warranty, thus had their service team diagnose and fix the problem. Carmax kept saying it was an "axle" problem and allegedly replaced axle shaft assembly FOUR TIMES. The 5th time we took it to Ford Obrien, and they diagnosed the problem within 15 minutes. Turned out the axle was not the problem but the steering rack had BROKEN CLEAR THROUGH. Obviously the vehicle was not safe to drive, even after 4 "repairs" from Carmax. Obrien fixed the issue and I have had no problems since from it. HOWEVER, the turbo was replaced last year by Carmax, but we just found out they did not install the filter (parts invoice below clearly shows a filter was not included hence not installed) and used the wrong stud/tightened it too tight on the valve cover, causing it to crack and leak oil. We took the vehicle back twice within the year for smelling burning oil, and Carmax said engine was covered in oil but it was fine, just needed to be cleaned. Turbo went completely out last week while driving on the interstate. Now I am fighting Carmax to at the very least pay Obrien to fix it, and I do mean fighting!!! Carmax will never touch are vehicle again. CARMAX LOUISVILLE KY SERVICE TEAM IS DANGEROUSLY INCOMPETENT, IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR FAMILY'S SAFETY CHOOSE ANOTHER DEALERSHIP.

HORRIBLE!!! These people are crooks, gathering together enough folks for a multi case lawsuit to bury this location. They are lying about inspection points, miles on vehicles are inaccurate, wear and tear on vehicles not being reported or repaired in a timely manner. The staff is just the icing on the cake. Getting them to talk to you after they screwed you over is almost impossible as they want to drain the clock so they won't have to return vehicle. I wish I could rate them a zero this place has went downhill STAY AWAY! N

Just had to rant. Sorry in advance. I have had a terrible experience with CarMax here in Louisville. I tried to complain on their site, but apparently they block less than glowing reviews. So here is mine.On 3-13-2023 I bought a Chevrolet Trax from them. I very soon discovered that there were features missing that were advertised on line. I utilized their 30 day return policy, and bought a higher priced Trax that did have all the missing features. It took four trips to finally get a second key fob that we had been promised to compensate for the first car's problems. The car is in the shop today (6-19) for four new tires and a front end alignment. This on a car with no wreck damage and under 12,000 miles. We haven't driven it long enough for it to even need its first oil change. My evaluation of CarMax at this point in time is that you should avoid it like it has the plague.

I purchased a 2018 Honda Civic here almost a year from Danny I believe his name is, when I purchase the car the rear brakes where grinding and I pointed this out, he said that they would make sure it was fixed if I purchased the car and that he would make an appointment with there service department. I left them the car for 2-3 days right after purchasing it and when I got the car back the grind had gotten worse, when I called they said they would have to rectify the brake pads as they have uneven wear. They kept it again for 2-3 days and when I picked up the grinding had been replaced by a squeal. I tried to take it a third time noted I haven't had the car for a full month and the very rude large lady that works at service has told me that it was cause my "driving habits" so there's nothing they can do about it. How can something I've had for less than a month be affected by "driving habits". A pre-existing issue that was caused by "driving habits"?? The reason I waste my time writing this revue is because yesterday I decided to change the rear brakes myself and the pads are down to the metal and the rotors have become warped. I don't know what they did at the service department at CarMax which honestly was very unprofessional and seemed lacking in experience, but they definitely shouldn't be working on someone's brakes...

Paid a $350 transfer fee to have a vehicle moved to Louisville to purchase. It stayed at the louisville location for 2 days to make sure everything was ready to go. When I picked it up the car was dirty, I asked them to rewash it which they did and sent me on my way. When the rep gave me the two sets of keys he said one was dead but to go to an auto store to replace it and Carmax will reimburse me. The day after bringing the car home I noticed so many scrapes, and paint chipping on the back. I haven't even had the vehicle for 2 weeks and the main key fob died, I'm unable to start the car and customer service and the store have given me the run around. I've sent multiple emails and left messages as everyone I speak to just transfers me. I'm currently spending money paying for Ubers to and from work as my car won't start. They should've never given me dead keys in the first place. To make things worse autozone and oriellys don't even carry the batteries. I've finally spoken to the service department and they want to keep the car for a couple hours to fix the dents but won't give me a loaner car. It's been one thing after another and I'm about to return the car at this point

This was the most low stakes car sales experience that I've ever had. Aside from the stack of papers to sign, it felt like we were shopping just like we would for anything else, without negotiations, straightforward.After keeping an eye on several dealership websites and general car websites, my husband and I found a 2016 Subaru Outback with the mileage and trim I wanted for sale for a great price on Carmax's site. Best yet, the car was actually in Louisville and not another regional Carmax location. We were able to easily make an appointment to test drive it via its website, and when we did make the appointment, the car was taken off the site, which gave us some peace of mind that it wouldn't be sold before we could get there. I was also able to get pre-approved for financing in less than 15 minutes on its site.So when we arrived, the car was waiting for me. Our salesman gave us the keys and let us take it for a spin by ourselves for 20 minutes. We decided to buy it based on the test drive, but if we needed more time, we could have taken it for a 24-hour test drive. And I still have 30 days to return it for any reason. The salesman gave us space to make our minds up, without any input or pressure. The price was what it was -- no quibbling. The majority of the staff wore masks and/or were behind plexiglass barriers, and there were extra masks and hand sanitizer on hand if any customers wanted them. I'm happy with my purchase and how easy it was. I would definitely go back to Carmax.

Excellent place to buy your next car! Our salesperson was Zach Henry and recommended him very highly. He was friendly, knowledgeable and no high pressure sales pitch. He made car buying easy for a change! The dealership was super clean and organized. And our transaction went fast and smoothly. Definitely worth stopping in as their inventory is vast.

I was impressed with this location.Upon arrival, greeted to see what I was there for, everyone wearing and following covid guidelines.Daniel helped me step by step and then Tanner checked out all the details on my car from inside to outside to engine working etc.In about 30 or so minutes later I had my check and all my paperwork from the really nice and professionallady from business office.My car was sold in an extremely simple to follow process. The offer was upfront no gimmick and very detailed explanation.I was truly surprised and pleased with their level of service and attention. The place is very clean, ample and even though I already had my car replacement I checked it out and they have tons of cars to offer.I, for sure will check them out again on my next vehicle search.
