I spent weeks communicating with the shelter seeking to adopt a specific dog. At first, I was informed the dog had been adopted. A week or so later, the dog is listed on their Facebook page again. I go up there the next morning when they opened. There was someone there already visiting and I was asked if I wanted to wait to see if they adopted her. I said I would. I proceeded to sit for over an hour in the lobby before one of the employees said they would go check on her. The people had left quite some time before. I then started filling out the paperwork to adopt her when an employee came in and said they had to shut everything down. They had adopted out a dog earlier in the week that tested positive for distemper. I decided to wait and come back because I have dogs at home and wanted to wait until the quarantine was over. During the quarantine? I communicated several times with the shelter staff and offered to pay the adoption fee, etc, and get her the day the quarantine was lifted. Today was the day. I get there minutes after they open and was told that a rescue was taking her. The rescue is out of Maine. I am here. I had my heart set on her. I will never recommend this place. So extremely disappointed and hurt.

I went here looking for a puppy the staff was extremely rude and disrespectful towards me and my friend. Not to mention that is really dirty (yes I know that animals have accidents but I worked in an animal shelter but in my home state and it was never like this shelter) I’ve seen puppies that had fleas on them mixed in with the adoptable dogs. And it seems like they don’t even bathe the animals due to how dirty they are. And not to mention this shelter is a high kill shelter!!

My housemate and I went in on June 1 2024 to adopt a puppy/dog and a kitten. First off every cat/ kitten was sick there was not a single healthy feline to adopt but they say their animals are healthy for adoption. Second in their small dog/puppy room there were several dogS that had a paper on the kennel door the said point blank that the dog was adopted, but we took several dogs up to the desk with us that had NOTHING on the door stating they were adopted just to be told oh that dogs adopted. Ok if the animal is adopted take a minute to put the sign on their kennel stating that so that you don’t have people getting their hopes up because you are not well organized. As well as they had a litter of puppies they got in that day the was COVERED and I mean INFESTED with fleas and they just had them out in the room with adoptable dogs, these pupping were also unadoptable as they were only 6 weeks old, instead of in the stray room to get them taken care of and bathed so that the other dogs don’t get fleas too. We next decided to look at the big dogs since our hope and really our patience with the unknowledgeable staff was dwindling quickly. There were several kennels with very adoptable dogs but none that would fit in our family, until we saw the rough collie, we were more than willing to adopt him and wait for his neuter, but they said he is going to a rescue and refused to give the name of the rescue, they said they didn’t know only their director does but then also refused to get the director or ask the director for us. So now instead of finding a good home quickly that dog is going to go to a “rescue” where he will have to compete with other collies to be adopted and his “adoption fee” with soar to $500 or more.
In a whole they were very unorganized, had no knowledge, were not taking proper precautions, and everything could be done infinitely better! We are not happy and will end up having to go to Clarksville which upsets my family because they had very adoptable that they were not taking proper vet care or or were refusing to adopt

Took a sweet stray off my hands with basically no wait & a short form to fill out. & i got to pet a sweet doggo that was in the office. I hope they found the kitty a nice home that can take care of her in her final years.

I love shelters and what they do for unwanted animals but I got a dog here who didn’t have kennel cough and now does after being there and it got my other dog sick and my neighbors dog sick. I don’t love vet bills

This is a kill shelter. Do not surrender here. They will not work with the animals, or search for a rescue/foster to help them. They had this stray puppy euthanized because he was "aggressive". Weird because he would play with my pitty and several kids just fine.

If there was a no stair I would do that. We adopted a cat here at paid 74.00 for the adoption. Was home 10 minutes and found out the cate did not get along with our dog. After the staff "tested" the cat before we adopted with a dog and was told she was also her paperwork said she was good with dogs as well.
I would not waste your time our money her go somewhere to adopt your special animal!!!

We have gotten all our cats from here! The only reason i don’t have 5 stars is because every time they’ve attempted to give an animal we take home from here their microchip they miss and i have to make a trip back to get a new one ? beyond that I’m always pleased with their efficiency and kind attitude!

Usually I would have nothing but positive thoughts and words for a place you would think is trying to find homes for pets...But this is the 2nd time I have been here within a week and this place was closed but I somehow walked right in the doors. I mean it might be my luck but get this- the same young woman has told me "sorry we're closed. I swear I'll never get a pet! ?
