“My family of 7 ordered our Thanksgiving dinner from Food City for the first time ever. We got a complete meal with all the fixings, plus I ordered extra desserts, like Dutch Apple Pie, Pecan Pie and Coconut Cake. It was delicious and we still had leftovers for three days. It was surprisingly cheap too and only cost $140. Just be sure to call ahead and place your order a week or more ahead of time because I waited until four days before thanksgiving and all the time slots were booked so we had to wait until one day late, but we didn’t mind cause it was well worth it.”

“I'm from SC and have never been a fan of IGA until I moved to Hi Hat several months ago. This is a great little store within 10 miles of my home with the most friendly and helpful staff. I recently had surgery and cannot lift more than 10 lbs, the staff has no problem loading what I need into the buggy and into the car all while wearing a huge smile and a great attitude...I really appreciate that! Yes it's limited in selection and a little pricey but they have a great meat dept, the produce is fresh, the digital coupons help quite a bit and considering that the closest Super Wal-Mart is Paintsville or Pikeville, I have quickly become a fan of my McDowell IGA!!!”
“When back in my mountain home, I always know what to expect when I see the Velocity sign.You might be able to find cheaper, yes. You might be able to find more brands, yes. But to have a local grocer in the mountains that stocks a broad range of great items? Amazing. My mouth fell open when I saw that they stock kimchi now!Velocity has always been great.The deli people are on point as well.”
“Used this grocery store since way back in my teenage years. Which has been a good 25 plus years. Cheap. Convenient. Can't heat their prices of canned food. Sales on meat. And their box cake mixes. Make the best cakes. And they are super cheap.”

“I like Speedway because I can hop in and out. Service are usually always good, the store is always clean and the employee are usually pretty helpfully. I have had a couple bad experiences but I don't hold it against them because everyone has a bad day now and then. I like that I can get a hot sandwich, a cold pop, and snacks all in one place. They have charger for your media devices. They are well stocked. So I would recommend stopping for your convenience of most of your items in one place. I believe they are now actually 7-11.”
“Place was a little messy. They were in the middle of re-arranging a shelf unit, so stuff was piled everywhere around that area. The rest of the store was clean. Cashier was friendly and helpful.”

“Food City offers good deals on meats, especially with the 5 for 2O, which I use those meats for breakfast mostly with the exception of the chicken legs and hamburger meat. Some items, however, are cheaper at Walmart, so you learn where to go for what item.One area Food City offers more is the savings from the Food City rewards card. It saves on certain items, and it also offers fuel bucks to use at the pump.I have the Walmart plus membership, as well, and you get 10 cents off of every gallon of gas no matter what, while Food City's fuel saver is determined by how much you spend in store.Walmart has better prices on water while Food City has better offers on milk.The biggest advantage that Food City has over Walmart is that they have a selection of fresh meats and different variations of seasonings on some of them, while Walmart only offers deli meat for sandwiches.Food City also offers certain fruits and vegetables for 5 for 7.99.I”
“This review was for MCDOWELL IGA......The people who work here are incredibly nice and helpful, they help pack groceries to the car when needed. There is a game section for kids and a delicious bakery with hot meals available. They do amazing work on birthday cakes and yes they have the licensed theme cakes as well, everyone goes above and beyond for any and all customers!”

“The store's website should correct the closing time. I just went there a few minutes and the store was checking out the last shopper when I got there and the door was already locked. I was told that they close at 9 Purely out of the men being awesome people they allowed me to go in and make a purchase I can't say enough good things about the men. But they have went above and beyond their job. They should be given a raise. And this is the first time I've ever posted a review. Kudos guys and Thank You!!!”
