“The store's website should correct the closing time. I just went there a few minutes and the store was checking out the last shopper when I got there and the door was already locked. I was told that they close at 9 Purely out of the men being awesome people they allowed me to go in and make a purchase I can't say enough good things about the men. But they have went above and beyond their job. They should be given a raise. And this is the first time I've ever posted a review. Kudos guys and Thank You!!!”

“I shop there all the time there fruit is fresh and the area always looks good there meat department still has smiling faces helping you if needed and there restrooms are always clean only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was they need to open more registers in evening so ppl can get in and out faster”

But to have a local grocer in the mountains that stocks a broad range of great items? Amazing. “I'm from SC and have never been a fan of IGA until I moved to Hi Hat several months ago. This is a great little store within 10 miles of my home with the most friendly and helpful staff. I recently had surgery and cannot lift more than 10 lbs, the staff has no problem loading what I need into the buggy and into the car all while wearing a huge smile and a great attitude...I really appreciate that! Yes it's limited in selection and a little pricey but they have a great meat dept, the produce is fresh, the digital coupons help quite a bit and considering that the closest Super Wal-Mart is Paintsville or Pikeville, I have quickly become a fan of my McDowell IGA!!!”

“Food City offers good deals on meats, especially with the 5 for 2O, which I use those meats for breakfast mostly with the exception of the chicken legs and hamburger meat. Some items, however, are cheaper at Walmart, so you learn where to go for what item.One area Food City offers more is the savings from the Food City rewards card. It saves on certain items, and it also offers fuel bucks to use at the pump.I have the Walmart plus membership, as well, and you get 10 cents off of every gallon of gas no matter what, while Food City's fuel saver is determined by how much you spend in store.Walmart has better prices on water while Food City has better offers on milk.The biggest advantage that Food City has over Walmart is that they have a selection of fresh meats and different variations of seasonings on some of them, while Walmart only offers deli meat for sandwiches.Food City also offers certain fruits and vegetables for 5 for 7.99.I”

“Used this grocery store since way back in my teenage years. Which has been a good 25 plus years. Cheap. Convenient. Can't heat their prices of canned food. Sales on meat. And their box cake mixes. Make the best cakes. And they are super cheap.”
“Place was a little messy. They were in the middle of re-arranging a shelf unit, so stuff was piled everywhere around that area. The rest of the store was clean. Cashier was friendly and helpful.”
“Overall, this store is very reliable and usually well stocked. From time to time, the store may be out of a certain item, but they are usually quick to restock items.
For example, they were out of the turkey cutlets the last time I was there, and hopefully, they will get some more soon.”
