I lived in Frankfort for the majority of the first 30 years of my life, and my family and I combined have had many pets over the years. This means I have worked with just about every single vet office in Frankfort at some point in time, and I've worked with many vets in Frankfort at some point in time. I actually live out of state and visit my family frequently. After being unimpressed in IL, I decided to try Dr. Scott's office, and I have been immensely happy that I found him.
Previously, I'd taken one of our dogs to a random vet in a town outside of Frankfort for a teeth cleaning because they were running a special on teeth cleanings. The vet was certain that our dog had a heart murmur, and she was quick to list off everything that she required us to do before she considered cleaning his teeth: an ultrasound with a traveling cardiologist, additional bloodwork, etc. I was put off by the delivery of this information. There was no concern about our dog; it was all about money. I'm a dog lover, and I've cared deeply for several dogs. However, I don't like being made to feel like a worthless and soulless human being for not agreeing upfront to procedures without explanation or care—especially at a vet office. Fortunately, this is not the case with Dr. Scott. He helped to guide us through making hard decisions, which resulted in finding the best way to get the heart scan for our dog. Additionally, he cleaned our dog's teeth and removed several growths. The surgery went smooth, and Dr. Scott did excellent work.
Dr. Scott and his staff are absolutely wonderful at what they do. His office employees are professional, honest, and kind. This isn't always the case when working with vet offices. In my experience, you may find a great vet but then have to deal with rotten employees, or you have sweet employees and a nightmare-of-a-vet. Every once in a while, you luck out and find a powerful office, and that's exactly what Dr. Scott and his team are.
Dr. Scott is inherently curious, which is why he is an excellent trove of information regarding the health of our pets. He walks into the room and gets right on the floor with our dogs. He'll ask us questions, listen, and he isn't looking at the clock when I ask my dozens of questions. He cares about the work that he does, and he is honest about cost and care. He's constantly reading and absorbing information in general, which I like in a vet. The fact that he actually returns phone calls is great because this isn't always the case. Whenever I work with Dr. Scott and his office, I feel like I'm being cared for, and most importantly, I know that my pets are being cared for. Dr. Scott and his employees are genuine human beings, and this is a rarity in our world.

We don’t even live in Frankfort anymore and we still only use Frankfort Vet Clinic. There’s not a better place for your pets anywhere in central Kentucky - the quality of care is second to absolute none. Scott, Sarah, Jenny and crew are the most caring, creative, kind hearted animal lovers on the planet. If we lived in Timbuktu we’d still find a way to use them for our pet care.

Dr Scott Nieves is the best vet that we've had, ever. He is super smart and a very compassionate caregiver. He focuses in on what's important and is conscious of explaining treatment options in laymans terms. He balances and explains the likelihood of positive outcomes with the cost to achieve them, aiming to optimize the "healthspan" of his patients. He doesn't run unecessary, costly tests.
We were travelling thru KY in our RV with our kitties (we live in VA) when one of them got ill. He took us in right away and got to the root of the issue, saving our cat's life. After we got home to VA, he followed thru with our local vet to transfer information and check-in on our kitty Reba. Frankfort is fortunate to have him!

You will not find a better veterinary office. If you read through the reviews for some of the other veterinary offices in town, you'll find glowing references from people expressing their gratitude for being made to feel better about their pet dying. But when my dog was hit by a car, I wanted a doctor, not a grief counselor. And that is what I received with Frankfort Veterinary Clinic. I've followed Dr. Nieves' advice and the results have been amazing. We still have a long road to full recovery. But I trust that with Dr. Nieves' guidance, my dog will be able to go on to live the highest quality of life possible. I truly can't express how grateful I am to them.

I have to start by saying I will NEVER go to any other vet, Dr. Scott and the ladies were amazing!! My 5yr old female dog needed an emergency spay and when coming to the office we were unaware that her uterus had ruptured he had done everything he could do and she's back home now.. They were all so kind , so empathetic and understanding by far the best experience I've ever had with a vet! I'm so grateful for them words honestly can't express it!! Highly recommend these guys for any of your fur babies needs ?My sweet mama love wouldn't be here if it weren't for their team! The picture of her laying down was her literally on her death bed her in the car was on her way home 24hrs later ?
