Dr. Peterson was very helpful and made sure that I knew everything that was going on with my dog, Ciri. It is very nice having the piece of mind knowing I can make an informed decision on the care of my pet.

I bade farewell to my canine companion of about sixteen years at this vet office because life happened when I was out of state visiting family. I'd never done this sort of thing, so I called ahead of time to ask about it. I was curious about pricing and process, and I was able to get in the next day. Obviously, this entire visit was a hard one—arguably one of the hardest to experience in a vet's office, in my opinion.
The employee took us back to the room and she gestured to another employee, stating that she was going to be there with us to shadow. I wish they'd asked us if this was okay ahead of time. Additionally, I wish she'd held off on explaining the steps to the new employee—or at least done it outside of the room. After all, my husband and I were going through the emotional hardship of letting go of our pet. It was just basic paperwork and taking us back to a room—was it really necessary to explain it all to a new employee like it was a routine visit? I actually told the employee that I didn't want a new employee in the room as soon as she told me, but she looked at me like I'd grown five heads and then patronizingly said that it wasn't a big deal. I was against an additional employee in there because I'd never gone through this before; I didn't know what the observing employee would be in the room for, and it made the whole visit feel more like a show, which is not the way a pet owner should feel in this scenario. I believe that my hesitation was normal because of the situation, and I think a consummate professional would have known this. I think the employee could have done better in this regard. The employee may not have perceived it as a big deal, but saying goodbye to my dog was a profoundly painful experience, which means it was a big deal to me. I didn't like the feeling that I had no say in the matter of a new employee tagging along.
The same employee gave me the paperwork upon arrival, and this paperwork involved a surprise additional fee. It was optional, but when I asked about it, the employee explained that the additional fee ensured that my dog wouldn't experience pain. First and foremost, I think this could have been explained in the phone call when I'd called the previous day, inquiring about and discussing cost. It was the whole reason I called and asked questions about pricing: I didn't want to have to make these decisions in the midst of the process. But this office withheld this additional fee until the visit, which I find distasteful given the circumstances. I appreciate honesty and transparency, and I know I asked about pricing. They should have brought up the additional fee when I asked about pricing on the phone, but they didn't, which means someone either didn't know (which is pitiful); someone forgot (also pathetic because any vet office should know how these delicate situations should be handled); or it was a ploy to withhold this information until customers are overwhelmed by grief and in-the-moment pressure to pay extra money. Of course I'm going to pay to ensure that my dog doesn't suffer, but there are much better ways to handle this option. Fortunately, the vet was kind and considerate, and my dog was wrapped up for me: I appreciated these things.
Ultimately, I believe that vet offices should operate with honesty, transparency, professionalism, intelligence, and kindness. Their consideration for how to treat other human beings matters a great deal because even though their patients are the pets, the owners are also there. When it comes to parting ways with a pet, I believe it is a no-brainer to treat the pets and their owners with the utmost respect and dignity. This should be a vet office's goal in general, but especially during such a crucial moment. To say otherwise is to go against the value of being compassionate and kind. I wish I'd gone with a different vet office for this task, but I wish my experience at this office had been better.

So far I’ve had all good experiences with Frankfort Animal Clinic. The veterinarians are good listeners and are kind to my dog. She’s a shy girl, but I’ve seen her give them a kiss. Prices are fair. I even had one vet point out some services I didn’t need at an annual checkup to save me money. Happy to have found a good vet in town!

Been going here since I got my German Shepherd. All of the vets here are good and we tend to see Wade King. I like how I can have my own differences about flea & tick preventive without being crucified. Dr. King also goes out of his way to do research even if he doesn’t know the answer. Great vet in my experience I always recommend to others.

I had an emergency on a Saturday morning with my little Ellie having a seizure. My regular Vet was unavailable. There are no emergency animal clinics in Frankfort but someone told me that Frankfort Animal Animal had Saturday hours till 200, it was noon when I contacted them. To make a long story short, Dr Denis King saved my little girls life. He kept her through the weekend checking on her several times a day and then calling us to let us know her progress. Thank goodness on Monday I had her back home. I will be forever grateful to the Dr Dennis King and his excellent staff. We are now a part of the Frankfort Animal Clinic Family.

I called this vet to help me with an emergency because my regular vet was closed. I explained that I believed my dog was having or had a stroke and I could be there in 5 minutes. They would not see us and suggested that we go to an emergency vet knowing that the closest emergency vet was 30 minutes away. Very disappointed with the lack of concern in a possible life and death situation.

I came in with my cat because of tenderness in his lower half, they told me they couldn't see him today but would euthanize him today if I wanted.
