I haven't used all of their products and I am not a Mennonite so not their target audience, but what I have used is impressive. I greatly admire the Mennonite work ethic and am trying to instill this value with my own children on our "mini farm". Aside from that, the teaching is solid, not bogged down with verbage or fluff, and on a more shallow note, I love the sweet, old-fashioned illustrations. :) It is also just hands-on enough to add interest and get some movement in without being overwhelming with mountains of manipulatives, or taking too much time to follow convoluted steps (this happened when I tried another "conceptual" game-based math curriculum that also starts with R and S).To the critics who say it's biased toward the Mennonite denomination... Duh. It's written by and for Mennonites. Just like a curriculum written for Jews will favor Judaism. Or Catholics, Catholicism. The point is: Does it teach well? From what I have seen, yes, it does! I wish I had found it sooner.

I have really good memories of using rod and staff materials for Kindergarten and on and off in other grades as well. At that young age I wasn't enthusiastic about Mennonite books and drew lipstick onto a few of the ladies in my books. Now as an adult I look back with fondness and appreciate the sound teachings from Rod and Staff kindergarten materials. Learning Psalm 1 was probably one of the best things I gained and carry it with me as an adult. It saddens me to see all the negative reviews. I can assure first hand there was never any hate speech and the books were made to be positive and age appropriate. I also recommend purchasing other books they sell such as cookbooks once you experience conservative Mennonite resourcefulness you will never look back. I am so greatful that this publisher still exists.

The school curriculum available from this publisher needs editing. You might have a 6 th grade book with some 8th or 9th grade questions or maybe 3 grade questions, not consistent the the grade. Or typos making it impossible for student to find correct answers. Not much has improved with them in the past 35 years, when I was the student trying to navigate the chaos. It is a shame I wish I could give you a better review.

I had this curriculum in school for a few years, it was remedial at best, indoctrinating at worst.This company produces materials with scare tactics woven into them instead of factual information to keep people inside dark Mennonite communities.

I love this store and publishing company. If you're looking for a homeschool curriculum that is Christ-centered and academically sound try Rod and Staff. If you are lucky enough to live near the store you can get books with minor imperfections for half price!

If you driving tractor trailer(40' to 53') there is only one safe way to get to this place!..follow this steps:Coming from the I-64 (east or west) you must take the US-23 South and keep going till you see signs for the 40 (Stafforsdville). When you come out from the US-23 you have to make a right into the 40!...keep going for about 2 miles and make a right into the RT-172(you see a Dollar General store there on the corner). Once you made the right on the RT-172 keep driving for about 18 to 20 miles....Rod & Staff will be on your right side...the delivery location is after this long left curve!!..there is a small white sign on the edge of the RT-172...dont pass it!..you wont be able to turn around!...if you take any other way or follow the truck GPS you will regret for the rest of your life!...believe me!..Good Luck!
