Absolutely devastated over a kitten we adopted not even a week ago. It had to be euthanized because it tested positive for feline parvo. It's fatal in kittens so we had no choice. I've seen another review about people having the same situation happen and all I would say is beware of this place. They do not have a vet on staff to test for certain diseases it's very risky to place money on an animal that you will no doubt love very much. Absolutely unacceptable to adopt out sick cats.

I am so heart broken over this situation. My beagle was not nurtured by someone who lied to me I bought off of and messaged the shelter 3 times emailed once guess what no response. Called them and left voicemail yes wondering if they’d buy the beagle and see if they had a beagle to nurture it. I guess I’ll never know since they don’t respond. Luckily my dad checked out the dog and he will make it. Please respond next time.

Anyone who rates this over a 1 star please first try to schedule a drop off. Smh they make it absolutely impossible to do anything but call animal control. I had a dog show up at my house and since it’s sweet I wanted to take him so he could find a home so I call Friday to see when I can drop off. They tell me you can’t drop off till Tuesday and that you need to have an appointment to do so, I ask may I go ahead and set one up but of course not I have to wait till that day. So tues comes I call and call getting a busy signal, then when I finally get thru I get a machine and I’m told to leAve a message and someone will call back. Yeah right smh

Very caring employees and volunteers. I was impressed how they knew each animal as individuals. This is a large facility but well organized. Cleaning was constant the whole time I was there.

THIS IS A KILL SHELTER. They also are not taking cats until December by appointment only. From my email corraspondance today."We are NOT a no kill shelter, even by making an appointment your animal may be at risk of euthanasia if the animal is sick, aggressive or if we run out of space. The community has to do their part on spaying/neutering their animals for us to not be so overran with animals which we can help with assistance if you want to keep your animal."

I usually don't make posts like this, but I am so hurt and disappointed and don't wish anyone else to have the same experience I had. So, I found a new fur baby @Knox Whitley humane society and fell in love. She was exactly the little kitten I had been waiting for to add to my feline family after losing my youngest cat earlier this year and I was ecstatic I had found her. Unfortunately, she was under 12 weeks old and hadn't been fixed yet. I attempted to go ahead and adopt her and was told, "we do not pre-adopt under 12 weeks old due to possible surgical complications." I understood this and asked if they would take my name and number to let me know when she would be ready. They immediately refused. Instead, I was instructed to "check back on Tuesdays to see if she would be fixed and ready." So, I kept checking in weekly and even sent them a message once checking on her. I went last Friday to check again to see if she was ready, because I am unable to go any other day due to their hours and my work schedule. When I got there, she was gone.... I. Was. Livid. An employee came up and repeated to me again, "we do not pre-adopt under 12 weeks old, blah blah blah." I told her I had been waiting and continuously checking to see if she was ready. This employee told me “She probably was shipped to PetSense in London or another pet sanctuary in New Jersey to be adopted."Not only did I follow the rules these people told me, but no one also even had the decency to write my name and number down! I checked to see if she was at PetSense...no luck. So instead of letting someone local adopt this kitten they decide to ship her to New Jersey or another facility in which neither require them to be fixed? I feel it was not fair to me in any shape, form, or fashion. I will never go back to this place and can't encourage anyone else to either. They are all about "adopt don't shop" so why make it so difficult? I understand there may be complications during the surgical procedure to fix the animal. Just refund the money or apply it to another animal. It's just bad business to not allow people to pre-adopt or to ship them off when someone is willing to pay the adoption fee and actually wants them. The employees made me feel like an inconvenience on top of everything else and I have been so disappointed. I would have never wasted 3 weeks of my time waiting, wishing, and hoping if I knew this was going to be my outcome.
