As a project manager, I want answers when I call a paint store. Or at very least a call back when told, and within a timely manner. Not here! You have to physically go to force them to do their job. How hard is it to put someone on hold and get the answer quickly? Unless your customer absolutely has to have a product here.... Go to Sherwin Williams!

I purchased paint for my kitchen from Porter Paints at what I felt like was a great price. The sale was 50% off and I purchased their "best" interior paint. In the beginning the sales staff was very helpful and pleasant. I brought the paint home on a Friday evening and began painting. The more I painted, the more I smelled a sour rotting smell. Having teenagers at home, I began looking for stinky shoes and even checked the garbage cans. When my husband came home and asked me why the kitchen smelled like catfish bait, we finally realized that it was the paint on the walls. So I stopped painting, but unfortunately I had nearly finished the entire kitchen. We decided to air out the house because we couldn't have stood it otherwise, and hoped with drying, that the smell would subside. Long story short, it did not and on Sunday I went to Lowe's to purchase all new rollers, brushes and paint to kill the smell, and it worked. A few days later, I went to the store to ask for a refund and to see if I could be reimbursed for the materials I had to purchase because mine were ruined. Once again, the staff was pleasant and three guys working that day smelled the paint agreeing it was bad. One of the staff members, Luke, copied my receipt and took my phone number to give to the manager, Matthew. He said Matthew would call me when he returned on Monday. Of course, I never received a call and a couple of weeks passed before I called to speak with Matthew. During that phone call, I was told by Matthew that my paint did not have a smell and since I had purchased my materials at Lowe's there was nothing he could do. I was appalled that he now ascertained that the paint did not smell, as all the employees on shift the day I came in smelled it and confimed that it stunk. I expressed to him my irritation and suggested that he paint his show room with it. I then asked why he had not returned my call and he stated that he didn't get my number or my receipt that had been copied which was obviously a lie because he had already referenced my Lowe's receipt. Furthermore he stated that he never actually smelled my can of paint, just a swatch that was left on his desk, but was adamant that the paint was just fine. I asked what happened to the paint, and of course, that was a mystery. So, basically, I had to do the painting in my kitchen twice and pay about $75.00 to have my kitchen smell like rotten hind end for the weekend. Great managerial skills Matthew. Lie to your customers, blame employees and shun responsibility. Now I know why the paint was on sale! I will NEVER do business here again and strongly encourage others to take their business elsewhere.

I called the Bowling Green store on Campbell Lane to ask if they carried deck stain & the employee that answered the phone was very hateful. Even though they didn't have what I needed I will gladly take my business elsewhere in the future. Very dissatisfied.
