BEST kennel & man behind it in central Ky! Had to leave my "big guy" with Jim for 2 months. As heartbroken as I was for having to leave him. I could not be happier with his being with someone who knows dogs as well as Jim.
I have my fur baby back now, but I know the big guy would great Jim as an old friend any time he sees him.
Spotless kennels, reasonable rates, unlimited love for your fur baby!!
HIGHLY recommend!!

Jim Durham has provided us with the highest possible level of service. When I brought my dog to him I was distraught because I was unable to teach my dog to stop yanking me around when I took him for a walk. This was particularly problematic because I was recovering from surgery. This is no longer the case! He hasn’t yanked me since I picked up my dog! Jim, the dog whisperer, taught him everything we needed like heel, come, stay, and loose leash walking, among others. I am so pleased I wish I could rate him a 10! He’s thoroughly professional and a truly gifted trainer. Walking my dog is now a joy.

Trustworthy, sincere, extremely knowledgeable and KIND.Other trainers I contacted tried to sell me services for $1695.00 or their cheaper option of $795and kept me On the phone for 45 min. After 1 min., this man listened to my need and told me to simply put my small dog in the carrier with some treats regularly and eventually she would like it. He said, "You don't need me. You can do it." Talk about REFRESHING, AND HE WAS RIGHT. COST=ZERO TIME =1 minute. Please use this service. He is someone I completely TRUST with my fur baby.

I sent my enthusiastic standard poodle to stay with Jim. The training and information Jim offers is sound. But most importantly, I trust him to take care of my dog and train him humanely and patiently.

I have had 3 dogs trained by Jim. One was a male Rottweiler, Jed, that had been rescued from an abuse situation. He was so afraid of men it took Jim awhile before he could even touch him. I appreciated the time and patience Jim took with Jed. I am a veterinarian and refer my clients to him when they are needing their dogs trained.

UPDATE:We're still enjoying the benefits of Jim's training, even several years later. Our dog, Coco, is loving and sweet, and does what we need her to do. We've never regretted taking her to Jim.Original Review from 2018:Jim is a fantastic trainer! Our dog was nearly unmanageable when we dropped her off, and by the time we picked her up she had learned to sit, heel, stay, lie down, come, and is so good at all of it! Jim also has been very patient and thorough in training all of us to deal with the dog in the best way possible. We're so glad we chose Durham Kennels!

Jim did an excellent job with our APBT Bronx, several years ago. I recently acquired my Dream Puppy (Doberman Pinscher) and I am very excited and looking forward to have Jim work with him!

We loved the experience and learned a lot about our dog! The classes, that are offered as a part of the package, really help to understand how to give structure to the owner-dog relationship. Our girl is very smart and often tries to manipulate situations in her favor. Jim was able to teach us ways to keep her alert and attentive but very much in check :)Much happier dog! Much happier owner!

I would like to start out by saying thank you Jim Durham for your helping my dog become the best version of himself and also helping me learn how to be an alpha. Everything that I needed from this training I received and some! Jim is very compassionate and trustworthy with the dog you will have nothing to worry about your dog will be in the best hands possible. If you’re looking to train your dog this is the place to do it you will not be disappointed thank you again Durham Kennels! Also my dog is 110 pounds at 9 months old I thought I was in real big trouble but Jim showed me how to correct when to correct and everything has been smooth since!

So after all the money spent the only thing that happened to my dog was he lost 9 pounds and for some reason both his front paws and nose were torn up from “hitting his kennel”. Today my family got a call from the owner and he told her all my dogs behavior was now our fault for not bringing him back for training. I was informed that I would be contacted to set up a training but was never called until today and didn’t even talk to the owner. Im a cancer patient and enjoy my dogs and I informed the owner it was hard for me to do the full training and was told no problem. I just can’t believe someone would offer a service and after 3 weeks of nothing, it my fault and not his!!
