The Broadway Auction is a lot of fun. Wilma is entertaining and it goes fast. Make sure are ready to bid. The items for sale vary from a box of stuff for $1 up to highly collectible items in the hundreds! You aren't going to find an unknown Picasso, but there are some great bargains.

I attended for the first time tonight. Wanted to bid on the big stuff like the huge rug, but I didn't last that long. I bid on a dollar tray of stuff and won it. The auctioneer had trouble seeing my bid number so I had to say it out loud. Then I held my hand up for another dollar item. The auctioneer didn't see it in time so it became a two dollar bid..OK so far. But the eyesight took my initial bid to be then 4 dollars, then six dollars..all within a couple of seconds. Somebody else eventually won the bid, but as I was encouraged to bid again, I shook my head and indicated that mine was a two dollar bid. I was chastised that I might "wish" it was two dollars but the bid. was much higher Yes..from the podium..yes..in front of everybody. I was just apparently not paying attention.

We were wanting to move and didnt want to take furniture with us back to Texas, so we called this pace and got a refrual to this guy who is supposed to be a " top furniture buyer ". LOL Yeah right, we had an Ethen Allen desk with book case, two hard wood dressers one was 7 drawer the other 9 drawer a 6yr kenmore refrig and a kenmore washer/dryer set that was 6yrs old as well. Also 2 twin mattresses w/out frames, one queen size pillow top mattress & box w/ frame, one full size matress & box w/ frame, one twin size mattress & box with frame, foot & head board. Also a 7ft with 3 leaves dinning table and six chairs, also two hard wood book shelves and how much do you think they offered me for the whole thing? What, 800? 700? 500? NOPE!! 200 FOR ALL!! Do i have stupid written on my forehaed somewhere? The Ethen Allen desk alone was worth more then that and i know they need to make a profit, but dam, to try and take something straight out is called stealing. I wouldn't trust the what they call " top funiture buyer of wichita " they'll try to refer you to. Who do some people think they are? I know what they are and it isn't honest!!

My other distraction was that this auctioneer was constantly micromanaging her floor staff. "Turn it around so we can see it..somebody grab the other end of it....you can use this end of the table while we finish up the other stuff....yes..all in front of all in attendance. You can probably get some real steals at this auction. But you will have to have a far less sensitive gag reflex than me for the 65+ queen bee who is the auctioneer..
