Porters Building Centers began as Kearney Lumber Company on June 7th of 1952. The company started in what was an abandoned mule barn in Kearney, Missouri by Mack and Mary Helen Porter. The company has grown to three locations. Elwood, KS, Kearney (headquarters), Laurie, Missouri. Porters stock many other fine products other than those that you would find in an Ace Hardware store. Benjamin Moore, Clark+Kensington and Ace Royal Paint lines. Other major brands include Stihl Power Tools, Therma-Tru Doors, Fiberon Decking, Owens Corning, Andersen Windows and YellaWood.
