Good selection. Excellent meat department. Priced well for an independent grocer in a small market. Good customer service. Nice Deli Counter. Recently added Sushi.They cook their own BBQ Ribs and they're the bomb.

Of the many things about Gene's I like is the meat department. They get that not everyone has a large household. Their small serving meat packaging is great for singles and/or seniors.

If your looking for a deal I would go to Topeka. I got a box of crackers and the same box is $3 at Walmart it was $6.50 here.

Just spent over $20 on a specialty item that needed to be kept upright, but the cashier turned it on its side as she was bagging it. No apology or acknowledgment that she messed up something that I just paid a premium for and no effort to resolve the fact that she had made a mess of my food. The cashiers/baggers don’t show care or concern for customers purchases like they should. Raw meat bagged with produce, canned goods on top of bread, throwing fruit down the check stand for bagging, frozen goods with hot items, etc. And I always have to watch their prices. Just yesterday they would have charged me an extra $10 on maybe a $30 purchase if I hadn’t been watching the prices as they rang up. Staff are usually the most disruptive in the aisles when I’m in there. I really wish there was another option in this town. Management apparently doesn’t do much for training or development when it comes to their staff. This business has really gone down in quality when it comes to customer service.

Stuck in the 80's. Could really use updating and better selection. The staff should wear 80's clothes, just for fun.

I removed my original review.As the owner removed the person selling the symbols of hate, once he noticed. I appreciate him doing that and upped my review. Thank you for handling and removing the hate from your property and hopefully from the community.

The Chicken was way overcooked. The older lady at the deli was rude but the younger girl was very nice. It is on my route but I won't stop again. The Gene's in Ellsworth is excellent.
