Professional, knowledgeable and compassionate. VERY nice facility in west Wichita. Well worth our drive from Newton for weekly classes. All classes have been excellent investments.

We signed up for a summer course with our dog. We went to the orientation session and were told that we (and a few other families) had been pushed to a session that was a couple of months later due to over-enrollment. We were fine with this. We sat through the orientation so that we would know what to do when our class started. Kelly stated that she would note that we attended on our form so we didn't have to attend the orientation before our class started. A week before the class started, Melissa emailed asking if we were going to join the class because we didn't attend orientation. I responded that we attended the previous orientation. Two days before the class, Melissa started texting me about how we missed orientation -again. I responded multiple times to the texts and even explained everything that was covered in the orientation to confirm that we attended. She said 'I don't see anything on your account to show you attended'. Hmm, ok. Then, she said that our dog was only 12 weeks old (our dog is 5 years old). It was not a great text exchange, to say the least. We decided not to attend the training course after these accusatory messages. I called to ask for our money back and Kelly said she wouldn't give us our money back. They were a complete mess...Seriously, find a different class. **As a side note, we are very familiar with taking dog training classes. We have trained a search and rescue dog, a therapy dog, and an agility dog. I have never had an experience like this. I was recommended to try this place out by our vet and I will be letting her know about this as well.Update - They have since refunded all but $10 to me, but it was only after I posted this review (when I spoke with them over the phone, they refused a refund). My interpretation of what happened is that during Covid, people would sign up and not show up so they started allowing many to sign up. As Covid dissipated, people started showing up to classes. Their consistent push for our family to 'just join a later session' after we already had been pushed from our first class makes me feel like they do this so that they can keep the money and you just give up in trying to attend a class. I get the sense that this was not a one-time situation and that is why I feel like the review is important. If you sign up and they push you to a later session, please ask for your money back and then you can pay when they admit you to the next class.

Thank you for helping to prepare Angie for Therapy Dog work. She started this week by helping the "ready to go home" group at LifeCare Rehab hospital, the PT knew exactly how to put her to work and Angie shone. Next day we went to The Timbers for a meet and greet and photos in front of the holiday tree with residents.Putting on the kerchief she knows means being on best behavior, and she showed no hesitation around any of the med equipment, power wheelchairs and all. Her super power showed when the elderly gentleman next to me at rehab wistfully said I had a dog like her, for the next several minutes she was by his side or head in his lap, so quiet and gentle. Tears in the man's eyes. And at the Timbers, with a guy in a fully auto chair run by his chin, she had no problem getting up under his hand to be pet, giving him all her attention. Such a great smile from that young man. Yep, dogs have a power!I've been in contact with a couple of schools, the principals agree that their 1st graders need to read Go Dog Go to Angie, its just a matter of getting with the 1st grade teams and figuring a time. That's our goal, and after close to a year from having the idea it feels good to get close and to know that Angie can get it done! My time of shh....wait may be about coming to an end, time to get busy again.Again, thanks for your expertise in helping us prepare to be out in the world comfortably!Jack Murphy

We've been having a very good time at puppy classes! He loves it and is always excited to see the trainers, even though sometimes he gets scared at the new things.

This staff is the best. Really helpful in changing behaviors and teaching humans to be better with their dogs. Reminder dogs don't know what we know. Would you expect your 2 yr old child to understand difficult situations and fearful interactions, then don't expect your dog to understand.

I realized I haven’t reviewed from my experience in 2020. I took one dog through the Reactive Dog training, and now he’s a completely different dog (in the best way). I doubted the training would work since it doesn't feel like you accomplish much in your hour class each week, but when you do your homework and stay committed, I really did see amazing results by the time class is over. My dog now willingly approaches strangers, attends doggy daycare and plays with countless other dogs, and ignores loud/off leash other dogs while on walks. I am forever grateful for his improvement. Then we took a puppy through the Puppy 1 class in 2020 as well. The socialization and basics taught in that class has set her up for success. She loves people and doggy day care and I think its because we committed to her socialization at such a young age (something we missed with our other dog who we then needed to take through reactivity training). I worked with her everyday for the first couple months so she was always prepared for class. I especially loved the way they taught “leave it” to the puppies because this is such an important command. The off leash puppy playtime and enrichment times are great!Thank you to the trainers at Family Dog Training! It’s been over a year since Ive been in a class but we are still seeing the results of all the hard work. Would recommend to anyone.

Janice was our evaluator for the Service Dog Public Access Test. She was prepared, her directions were clear, and the things she wanted us to demonstrate were easy to follow.
