I had a great experience here. I belong to a YMCA in another city and was happy to find out that the Topeka Y would honor my membership while visiting town. Nathan at the desk was super-helpful and friendly, both when I phoned and when I visited. There were plenty of options for machines and equipment and I had a great workout. The facility was clean and well kept. I look forward to visiting again.

Phones should not be allowed in the pool area, parents of the kids doing swim lessons or no.

Rude front desk reception and I was treated rudely on the phone (I was basically called a liar.) I canceled my membership because of the treatment at the front desk. That was ongoing for 2 years. The phone calls were a series of 3 in 2 months time. For a Chrisitan organization they have basic kindness issues.

Thought this would be a nice place to take our kids during the cold months. It turned out to only be a place to swim. Will be canceling our membership once the weather gets better. Too many old grumpy people. Not a place for families with children.

The reason I am giving this place 2 stars is because I signed up here specifically to attend water aerobics classes. Every YMCA I've ever been to, the use of the pool and aqua group fitness classes are included in the price of your membership. This is not the case here. I work during the day so I can attend class before work or after I get off work. This Y has decided to charge extra for the water aerobics classes that are held at these peak times. I have no idea why this is and this was not mentioned to me when I inquired about membership. I asked if any other group fitness classes require that members pay extra and I was told no. This is extremely disappointing for me because water aerobics is something I was specifically looking for and I would have taken classes three times a week. I believe they are asking members to pay an additional $7 per class so if I did 3 classes a week that's an additional $85 a month on top of what I'm paying to go there in the first place. Just be aware of this if water aerobics is of interest to you and you would like to go in the early morning or evening times.

I called to inquire about the income based program. Receptionist or whomever answered the phone acted very confused and as if she could tell me anything. After asking 2 more times I spoke with someone else about the program and seemed as if she had had attitude when asking questions. Very rude treatment!
