“This is a review for the laboratory under the Environmental section. Health section is another story that someone else can chime in.Worked here for a good number of years and can confidently say that this is a "modest" place to work at the time of this posting.What makes this place great are the people, the positive work culture, and the training opportunities. What truly sets this lab apart is the management team as they are very supportive, competent, and approachable. As a result, there is a team-like atmosphere for this section, allowing different units within the same section to freely share ideas and offer cross-training. Also feels like we have a "Thanksgiving" every month or so as we have many bakers and generous people among the team. In short, lots of laughter, smiles, ups and downs, and hard work.What makes this place "modest" are the fun facts, the work environment. This is an old hospital building with leaky pipes and ceilings. During the summer, it's invaded by beetles. During the day, ceiling tiles, lights, and pipes falling spontaneously over your heads and instruments isn't a surprise. You thought our Emergency power outlet works? Later you find out it's mislabeled when it fails. But wait! The building doesn't even have emergency power! Instruments so old they will give you a flu when they cough at you. Sigh when samples comes in late right when you leave. Shed silent tears after you see the work volume and that you're alone. And you'll throw up your hands when Horizon takes you down.Life here will always offers you a second chance. It’s called tomorrow.”
