Rooms: Clean and well appointed rooms. It was so nice that it felt like being in a magazine. Lighting everywhere and for any mood or need. The shower is the best size and water volume. Definitely putting g this place on my favorites.
Walkability: Bars, restaurants and other things within walking distance

The room was very spacious and clean. The only two things were that the ac is very loud and the pillows were very uncomfortable. Could not sleep because of them. They are way to high and hard. Not a normal marriott pillow.

We really liked this place. We had a room with 2 beds and a roll out and were able to sleep all 5.

Park on the street, not the garage. Breakfast is NOT free.
Rooms: Seriously nice, like extremely nice, the only downside was the exposed conduit on the ceiling for a light, stared at it all night. It really isn't an issue, it was more of a joke because it's really that nice.
Nearby activities: It's like downtown or something, looked like tons of stuff nearby. Just walking around down there was nice with the kids in the wagon.
Safety: Buildings old, but the elevator was seemingly very new, elevators typically scare me in some way but not this one. There was probably a stair case for fire but I didn't notice one.
Walkability: Tons of stuff nearby, you're literally on Google just look at the map.
Food and drinks: Breakfast isn't free, granted we had a server helping with drinks and he treated our whole family fantastically. Expected $0, spent $50, not very dissatisfied even though it was a pretty standard Marriott breakfast.
Noteworthy details: Wifi is not very great and if you have a streaming stick, hah good luck bub.

OUTSTANDING hotel, staff and service! We had a large group from all over the country meet at this hotel for a family reunion and we were blown away by our wonderful experience! The hotel is gorgeous! A great mix of Historic & Modern amenities and so beautifully decorated. I had no idea that Cyrus Holliday was a founder of Topeka and it was fun to read the history throughout the hotel in the artwork. We booked the Presidential Suite to have a nice gathering space and it is HUGE! The room has a giant living room, big kitchen, dining table that I think sat 12 and then the beautiful patio with big cushioned seating and strung lights that created the most perfect backdrop for photos. The individual rooms were so comfortable and I'm a "linen snob" lol. Devine!
The little touches like extra mirrors in and out of the bathroom, clothing steamer, coffee station with REAL mugs and big screen tv's, I don't know what else we could have asked for!
We booked the private dining room in the Weather Room restaurant and had one of the best meals we have ever had. I'm used to the food being just "OK" when they have to serve such a large group but the Filet Mignons were cooked to perfection and the Salmon with sundried tomato & spinach cream sauce...omg! I wished I could remember more of the staff names because they were all so wonderful but special thanks to Rob the GM and Kelly in the restaurant for being so accommodating and making our event so special. Kudos to you all and I wish I could give higher than 5 stars!! HIGHLY recommend :)

A big thank you to Nyrica ! I didn’t get to stay but I gifted a night at this beautiful hotel to my parents for their wedding anniversary and we had a some issues with the booking. Nyrica was very reactive and solved the problem in no time. It is always the staff that makes or breaks a hotel and I am so appreciative of your hard work.

Poor check in experience. Nice hotel, good amenities. Overall fine, could have been much better.
When I arrived, the person at the front desk was on the phone with a future guest who was receiving A LOT of information about the hotel's amenities and he took over 20 minutes on the phone answering questions and making the reservation while I waited to check in. When it was my turn, he barely greeted me, took less than 5 minutes to check me in, take my credit card for incidentals, describe the layout of the hotel, and explain where the parking garage was located. After patiently waiting while he was on the phone for such a long time, I really expected to receive the same level of customer service that was bring provided on the phone. If he was going to take so little time to interact with me, it would have been appreciated if he would have asked the guest on the phone to hold while I got checked in. This was unacceptable and I was unimpressed.
That being said, the property itself is quite nice. It's spacious, modern, quite, and located in downtown Topeka. My room was clean, however there were some water stains in the bathroom that made it look like it hadn't been cleaned and makes it feel and look dirty.
Things to note - The parking garage is a confusing because it's not attached to the hotel. Additionally guests must park between levels 8-11. The garage has an elevator, but no matter where you park, you'll have to take the stairs at some point to get into the hotel. You also have to cross through the back alley to get from the garage to the hotel - so don't forget your key! No access otherwise. This might have been less confusing if I had been give SOME information, but I had to figure it out on my own. Breakfast is not included and is an additional charge you have to pay at check in.
