This school has a real police mindset & treats students who struggle with mental illness or an abusive home life as criminals. Parents are always believed over children. I grew up being emotionally and physically abused by a narcissist and no one at this school did a damn thing to protect me. I called 911 on my father once and was reprimanded by the school for it. No one asked me why I called 911 (I was terrified for my own safety), they just assumed I was being defiant. I also suffered anxiety attacks periodically and during an attack a student resource officer would escort me to the nurse's office and ask if I was on drugs. This school needs proper training on how to identify narcissistic parents/covertly abusive parents & how to approach mental illness. For this to be effective, however, they're going to have to abandon their police mindset and start trying to help their students instead of automatically assuming they are acting out and need to be punished. Maybe then the suicide rate for BVHS students and alumni would stop skyrocketing.

I love this school with all my heart. I was tortured out of BVSW and so I transferred here. The teachers are amazing. Mr. Bacon is amazing. The administration is amazing. Most of the students are amazing. If you're being judged at your school for who you are. Transfer here. Everyone is SOOOO excepting! 10/10 recommend this school for your future high schoolers!

Blue Valley High School is great for kids who are fairly normal. Unfortunately, my little sister isn't normal. You might think this entire review is a lie. I have been accused of lying about this because what the teachers at BVMS (Blue Valley Middle School) and BVHS did to my sister is illegal. But I promise this is completely true. Even if most people don't believe me, I want this out there to protect other kids from going through what my sister went through. First, some background information. My sister and I were abused by our mom. When I was eight and my sister was seven, our dad made our mom leave because he was concerned for our safety (little did he know that my sister and I were already in danger) and sent us to public school. My sister had severe behavioral problems (probably from a combination of Asperger's syndrome and psychological trauma). Prairie Star Elementary School (I went to Blue River Elementary school, but my sister went to Prairie Star because they have a better resource room) intentionally misdiagnosed her with pervasive developmental disorder NOS so they could get grants. At Blue Valley Middle School, she was mistreated mistreated in the resource room and she no longer needed it when she was in seventh grade anyway (that's the year she was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome), so my dad pulled her out of that program. She was still mistreated, so he home schooled her for the rest of eighth grade. You can read more details about my sister's experiences at BVMS in my review of BVMS. When she was in ninth grade, our dad had to send her to school again because it's really hard for a single parent who can't work from home to home school his kid. He thought things would be different at a different school. Wrong. I don't know all the details because I came to live with my grandparents that year for the sake of my mental health, but I'll tell you what I do know. The teachers were still trying to prove that she didn't belong in a regular classroom. They kept getting her in big trouble for things that were technically against the rules but that everyone else got away with. Eventually they told my dad that my sister, who is perfectly smart and would've been capable of functioning in a regular classroom if they hadn't gone and traumatized her, should just drop out and get a GED. After that, my dad pulled her out of school and started home schooling her again. Because my sister was bullied by both the teachers and the other students, my sister now has depression and social anxiety. She can't function at all and has lost all hope of ever doing anything with her life. This is all because of the abuse she experienced at school. I've never heard of this happening to anyone else in the Blue Valley School District, but it happened to my sister, so it could happen to anyone. Please, please, please don't send your kid to school in the Blue Valley School District if they have issues that may cause them to need the resource room. Your kid could end up like my sister if you ignore my advice. I hope you believe me.
