? **Warning to Kansas City Residents: Beware of Discount Auto Glass in Merriam, KS!** ?
I feel compelled to share my recent experience with Discount Auto Glass after an unfortunate incident that has left me not only frustrated but also significantly out of pocket. As many of you know, our community in Shawnee, KS was hit hard by severe hail back in March. The storm was so unprecedented, with hailstones the size of baseballs wreaking havoc on our vehicles that our videos & story was featured on KSHB 41, CNN & The Weather Channel.
Among the damages, my son’s Elantra suffered a shattered moonroof just three weeks after he purchased it. In a hurry to prevent further damage, we turned to Discount Auto Glass for a repair. They quickly installed a new sunroof, and we paid for the service, keeping the receipt for our insurance claim. With multiple vehicles needing attention, we took our time to ensure each was addressed carefully.
Fast forward four months to a sunny day when my son attempted to open his sunroof. To our shock, it made a horrible crunching sound and almost detached while he was driving on the highway. He pulled over and contacted me, and I instructed him to take the car to a local dealership for an inspection.
When I called Discount Auto Glass to report the issue, they asked us to bring the car in. However, upon my arrival, the owner dismissed my concerns, claiming they were not responsible for any damages caused by leftover broken glass in the tracks during the installation. He rudely insisted that cleaning the debris was not part of their service and advised me to seek help from a dealership.
The dealership assessed the situation and informed me that the accumulated glass had damaged critical mechanisms, leading to an estimated repair cost of over $900. They couldn’t believe that they put the sunroof down right on top of all of that shattered glass without cleaning it out.
Feeling frustrated, I returned to Discount Auto Glass to relay this information, only to be met with hostility and dismissal. The owner belittled me, even referring to me as "woman," and yelled at me to leave his shop.
In an effort to seek reimbursement, I filed a claim with my credit card company. Unfortunately, Discount Auto Glass contested the claim so aggressively that it ultimately expired, leaving me without any protection or recourse. Now, I’m facing a loss of $600 paid to them and an additional $900 to repair the damage caused by their negligence.
I urge everyone in Shawnee and the surrounding Kansas City area to think twice before using Discount Auto Glass. Their lack of professionalism, kindness, and accountability is alarming.
My hope in sharing this is to prevent others from going through a similar ordeal. Please be cautious and do your research before trusting this company with your vehicle repairs.

We called around everywhere and unfortunately no one had the glass for our car and they were the only ones that offered to help with a crash wrap for our window. We walked in and they were all nice and friendly. Definitely recommend.

Had an appointment scheduled took them 15 to 20 mins to even pull into the bay. When they pulled in and started to work on my car the broke my cowel and didn’t even care to tell me and they half ass the job and they used the wrong top seal should have been longer. They left trash in my car as well. This is why I’m leaving them a review that is one star. I don’t recommend them

Had an appointment scheduled for a window seal replacement. Show up and place was a mess with no one to great. Found employees in the shop. The guy looked at the notes on his computer and said he did not have the seal and it may take a few hours before he could get any.
I called the owner and mentioned I should have been informed before scheduling my entire day around this appointment. He got defensive telling me he would would not allow my repair to happen and hung up. Be Cautious. There are way better options!!! Keep shopping.

When I went to change my windshield and they damaged the car, and they didn't tell me or say any thing about the damage. When I got home I check and it was big damage for my car.

I have had my windshield replaced here twice and can’t recommend it enough. The prices are great, and they’ve gotten me in and out within the same day both times. This is a great place to get your windshield replaced and I would recommend it to anyone I know.

Amazing company! I brought my car in with what I thought was a rock chip on my front windshield. They cleaned it off, resulting in the imperfection going away, which ended up being a non-issue.
They are an honest company and I will definitely be back when I do have auto window repair needs.
Also took note that I need to wash my car and windows more often.

I had a new windshield installed here. Installed in about 90 minutes, and the staff was nice. Bare bones operation, and far cheaper than the other quotes I got.
Hopefully I won't have another broken window, but will call them first if I do.

A thief broke our door window to steal my wife's purse. So I originally set up an appointment with Safelite because that's who I've always used. However, the soonest appointment with Safelite was in 10 days. I called Discount Auto Glass right away the next morning, and they had my door glass replaced by 2 pm. that same day. They also beat Safelite's price by $150. Their shop is a little rough around the edges, but I attribute that to their focus on getting customers in and out fast. I am very happy with their service and will use them from now on. Thanks guys!

Had to take my car up there several times to seal my windshield in which my trim piece flew off, got that fixed for them to tell me they broke the clips on the inside and refused to place. Car still leaks. Windshield was not sealed correctly if even at all! Don't waste your time or money!

Had it done it just over an hour for $200 cheaper than insurance will be bringing my sons car next.
