John is great to work with, has extensive knowledge, does professional work and charges fair prices. He was highly recommended to work on my classic car. After using his services, I know I will always go back to him and be confident in his diagnosis and repairs.

John runs a great mechanical shop that will find and solve your automotive issue. I just drove home a 50+ year old classic auto that simply has never run better. I had several very challenging issues, and John and his team didn’t stop until they solved them and sent me home in good shape at a very fair price. I’m sure the service is the same whether new or old vehicle. Thank you to Midwestern Mechanical.

Most knowledgeable, no nonsense mechanic I have found. And that says alot because I have been in this city for 50 yrs. I absolutely trust his work.

There is no better place in all of Kansas City. John Freeman, the owner, has stayed in business since the 1980's without the need for advertising or even signs. His reputation precedes him. I first came to John on the recommendation of a gearhead friend who liked to do his own work, but trusted only John when he couldn't do it himself. I brought in my 1998 Honda Civic for some initial small work and he did a wonderful job. When I needed to replace my tires and didn't have money to tow it to a tire shop, John lent me his farm truck to pick up tires at Costco and bring them back to his shop for him to install him. When my engine block cracked, John sent me to a friend of his who saved me at least $3,000 from what the dealership wanted to charge. Most recently, I brought my 2008 Honda Civic in after the engine started overheating suddenly. He sadly discovered my engine block had corroded. Knowing my car was not that old, he was suspicious and so he personally scoured the internet and found an alert on a tech blog that leaking coolant was a known problem. As a result my car was towed to Honda and my engine replaced for free. He saved me from having to buy a new car. I can't sing his praises enough. He does phenomenal work, sends you to the right place when the work exceeds his expertise, and he goes the extra mile to make sure his customers are taken care of.
