Account was flagged for fraud. A $40 transaction so they deactivated my debit card to safeguard my account - fair enough. Problem is I’m a truck driver and away from home. They said I can go into the branch and get a new debit card. Told them I can’t - truck driver and traveling. I need access to my money. I suggested activating it while I’m on the phone so I can use an ATM so I can get cash and then deactivating it again until I can get into the branch. Or just allow the $40 transaction because I’m willing to lose $40 so I don’t lose access to all the $$ in my account. The $40 was for a membership I used to have that I cancelled 2-3 months ago. Teller was super nice and tried to help but finally gave the call to the branch manager who was beyond rude and eventually hung up on me. I’ll be switching banks, closing my account, and they will NEVER have a positive thing said about them from me. Horrible horrible experience. So now I have to travel hundreds of miles back so I can withdraw some cash so I can eat. Yup been without for 2 days. But all this grief and pain at least has its irony. The $40 transaction was paid out of my account. So the whole thing they were trying to prevent happened anyway and they are losing a long standing account holder. I’ve been there since it was first federal. Any bank that will allow their customers to go without their money while traveling to prevent fraud that they didn’t/wouldn’t stop…is a place I can no longer do business with.

After being forced to open an account here and then having it for 8 months, I asked to close this account (due to the constant mistreatment, belittling, comments against those of a different skin color, and rumors being spread about customers by the manager) so I zeroed out my account and shredded my debit card. A WEEK later, I got a text saying there was an error with my account. I looked at the app, and something had gone through over the weekend. I got an overdraft charge, and my ex-manager refuses to refund the $35 overdraft charge. She said I had plenty of time to make my account positive, but I wasn’t aware that my account hadn’t been closed, and my card had not been deactivated. I know that this falls under bank error and the refund should be given. Customer service can’t help, as the only one that can refund it has personal issues with me because I quit. After MONTHS of being bullied, hating going into work, and putting up with the harassment from my manager, I am tired of letting her get away with everything. So here’s my story, and I refuse to pay the overdraft charge I shouldn’t ever have to pay, had everyone done their job right.Edit: I noticed that after posting this, someone refunded the charge so my account was able to be closed. I never got a call about it, or an apology for my mistreatment. I’m glad sharing my experience online made someone stop and think about what’s really going on here at Pittsburg. I wonder how many customers Jennifer takes advantage of that don’t know about banking like I do. I will never recommend this branch while Jennifer is still manager.

Their customer service is the poorest I've ever experienced at any financial institution. The branch manager didn't even have the ability to research how to negotiate a certified bank check. She Was unwilling to help her member or me negotiate the check. I couldn't imagine this as my financial institution.

Has equity bank lied to you? Changed terms last minute? Charged you for appraisals and never did a loan? I encourage you to file a complaint with the Kansas banking commission! Also reach out to me with your story so we can join teams to make sure they do not continue these terrible business practices. I have already come a cross several with similar stories as mine. 417-214-8185 For me equity bank changed terms on multiple loans. Added early payoff penalties without my knowledge. Delayed loans on projects that were supposed to be funded in July 2019, finally ordered appraisal in October 2019 ($5500) then told me April 2020 that they were no longer doing the funding. Now I have paid close to $20,000 in costs on a $175k project and will need to pay another bank the same fees to finish the project and get a better rate. 6.125% where other banks are at 4.25%-5%. Plus a $6000 early pay off penalty. They were also supposed to be funding a 60 unit apartment complex and kept delaying the purchase to the point I was going to lose $50k in earnest money, $6,500 in appraisal fees, and much more. Luckily I called a real bank and within 3 days they put the entire loan together and funded it saving me all that money. Keep in mind equity bank lied to me and screwed me around for 4 months on what they did in 3 days. No rate comparison equity was trying to screw us. To add some credibility to my post. I own several strong businesses and a 250 unit rental portfolio. I am not just someone that is begging for a loan. There is much more that we have dealt with which will all come out very soon. But I should also add that equity is in a lawsuit for defrauding investors (google it). I hope this review will save many people that are on the fence of doing business with this financial institution, or if you currently are I recommend making a move right away! Let's force a change!

I love my KC location. however, I have a business in Pittsburg, KS. My managers make my cash deposits at this location. The balance of my account is being shared with employees who are not on the account at all.
