Ran in to buy some chicken because I was hungry and was late and saw a lady throwing it away (I later found out her name was Janet) when I walked in to grab some she said something along the lines of “do you want food?! Is this a nightly thing?! I’m friends with one of the owners… actually I’m friends with both of the owners. Don’t let this happen again.” In which I replied respectfully “don’t let this happen again (chuckling)” in which she snapped back with “yes. Don’t let this happen again. It’s been a bad day for me so don’t test me again (as she slid baskets of chicken across the counter at me in a rude manner)” I tried being as respectful as possible and showed as much empathy as possible. She continued to have a condescending attitude towards me as she walked away with a trash bag full of wasted food. It was not a great experience I typically come in around 8 o’clock every night to talk with some of the nicest people I’ve ever met (Travis, Rachel, Mickala, Devonn, or Nancy) but the experience I had with Janet really changed the way I think of the people that Bernie’s hires. Disappointed to say the least. Wasting food, snarky worker, and bad attitude.
(Update, went into Bernie’s today to get a soda and was confronted by Janet at the register. She had asked me “Are you the one who left the one star review about me?…” and “Can you edit that to be a 5 star review, it looks bad.” (I’m not sure if she meant looks bad on the store, or if it looks bad on her.) She then stated that she’s “Married to one of the owners…” and that “She’s always super kind and a good person and is never rude” (if that was the case than I wouldn’t have left a one star review stating her by name.) towards the end of this confrontation she had stated “I had never worked the late shift and I didn’t realize that so much food was given away at the end of the night, like we can’t just give it away.” As if I didn’t fully plan on buying what I wanted, I had just come back from a fire department call and it was late, I missed dinner at home and I needed something to eat. (I was still wearing a high-vis vest). I’m making this update because I believe confronting a customer about a review they had left is extremely unprofessional and should never happen in the work place, especially when that review is directed right at your character.

One of the cashiers was totally rude has no manners and made smart comments later found that her name is Janet very disrespectful would recommend to not go into Bernie’s when she is working

Sorry friendly. Wish they had more options for hot food. (The kitchen was removed.) Still a good place to go. Oh! And their biscuits and gravy are amazing!!!
