Very aggressively rude and unpleasant employee, and terrible customer service. The employee was a woman approximately 60 to 70 years old with grey hair. When I entered the store she looked at me, but didn't greet me. I walked the store looking for a roll of screen door screen, but having never previously been in the store I couldn't find it. I walked up to the front of the store, and politely asked if she could help me. She asked what I was looking for, and I told her. She said, "well it's in the back room", I started to tell her that it was my first time in the store and didn't know where the back room was. There was an awkward pause where the way she looked at me was unsettling, so I turned to go find the backroom, and she huffed and in an irritated tone said "I guess I'll show you." As we walked across the store and into the back room she asked what kind of screen I needed, and I told her, the durable pet screen (I'm still being polite at this point). Anticipating her next question, I pulled out my phone because I had made notes of the measurements that I needed. She reached down to find the pet screen and at this point she seemed like she was about to have a full blown temper tantrum. I wish I could accurately describe the way she acted when she spoke to me next. She looked at me and said, "do you know how much you need?" Seems harmless enough just reading the words, but try to picture the person saying it is shaking with anger, and the look she gave me is difficult to describe, but similar to a bitterly twisted person trying to place a curse on you with their eyes. Pure hate. I instantly felt extremely uncomfortable, and told her I would come back another time, then I turned around and left the store. Driving away from the store, I realized that I was wearing my military Veterans hat, and thought that maybe that's why I was treated so poorly, because I've never met this person before in my life, and I can proudly say that I don't know anyone that I would call my enemy, especially in Paola because we just recently bought a home and moved here. I'm a friend and good neighbor to everyone I meet. My family just moved to Paola, and so far everyone we've met has been friendly and inviting. This was my first bad experience. It will be difficult to justify going back into this store.

I love to support local & small town businesses. This store always seems to have what I'm looking for. Helpful staff, it's a good place to just run in and buy what you need without the hassle of the big box stores.

Really don't know what the future holds when stores like this aren't around anymore. Nicely stocked, great folks, good prices. Easy in and out, and some old time charm thrown in for good measure! 5 stars all around.

This is my favorite hardware store in Miami County. It's always easy in and easy out. Great service. I needed to install a mailbox in the brick on the front of my house and they showed me the right bit and screws to do it right. I've also found plastic for under the office chairs that you can cut to length, a ton of plumbing supplied...it's just what you would expect from a great small town hardware store and the service is 5 star!

My favorite hardware store ever, honestly. I've never had a bad experience, always get what I need and any advice I ask for. Really great people. And by the way, I LOVE the new paint job
