My elderly father was excited to attend the artisian French baguette class with my mother this past weekend when he took a fall down a flight of stairs breaking several bones in his body. When I called a week prior to the class to reschedule to another class I was coldly advised of the cancellation/refund policy. Zero consideration of them attending another class in the future (this class was already paid for)when my dad is better and out of the hospital. So, not to waste the money, my already stressed out mom luckily was able to find a neighbor to go in their place. Owning a small business myself I understand how difficult it can be to handle no shows / cancellations, etc but come on... the class was paid for and was merely asking to choose another class to attend. I believe this was the 3rd class my family has purchased, but never again. Think twice when booking your class with this company.

I came here to take a cookie decorating class. This place is pretty big! You wouldn't think that from the outside. The instructor, Lisa, was great! She was very informative and showed us everything. I'm a baker and I have a hard time with icing cookies so I don't make them. Her cookie and icing recipe was super simple unlike mine. My recipes are complicated it would appear. Hers, are short and still give you excellent results. I had fun icing the cookies even though I'm horrible at it. She made me feel confident that I could do this with a little practice. The table of ladies I sat with were great as well. Everyone had fun! I'm going to look up more classes that they have and see what I can do. Maybe drag my hubs or my 13 year old to one. I highly recommend taking a class here. The picture I added is of the cookies we decorated. These were the examples that Lisa did. Definitely not mine. Lol

My first time ever taking a class at The Culinary Center of KC and it did not disappoint! My best friend signed us up for an Italian Vegan class as a Christmas gift and we had a blast. Firstly, the space itself is so fun with the huge industrial kitchen in the back and the other stations along the walls. The staff were SO good and efficient in helping the head chef and us as we went through the menu. I particularly enjoyed how we got to get our hands dirty but also try a few dishes that we didn't have to make ourselves. It was a nice break from time to time and definitely left us feeling nice and full. In regard to the dishes, we started by being served a tuscan white bean soup that was very flavorful and delicious. We then prepped a vinegar cucumber/tomato/onion salad and then moved on to the pasta primavera. Making the pasta was quite fun. All we had to do was chop and saute the veggies, roll out the dough and cook it in the water. We were also served grilled polenta with a tomato sauce and the salad we made was really quite amazing! We were all surprised by how much we liked it for it having only three or four ingredients. The polenta was pretty flavorless, but another nice break and something we weren't as familiar with, so nice to learn something new. Ultimately our pasta was great. It was very filling, to the point where none of us felt 100% by the end because we ate so much! But very fresh and flavorful. The zucchini bread to finish was yummy but a bit gooey and not really in the good way. Flavors all there though! Loved the lemon glaze. We were offered a complimentary glass of wine which we accepted and then we paid the $35 corkage fee for a bottle we brought. The fee seems a little high in my opinion, but we sucked it up. I will definitely be coming back for another class! I loved how interactive they made it and our chef Bruce was great!

Finally was able to schedule a class after have gift certificate for almost year because all the classes are on waitlist constantly. I unfortunately broke foot two days before class, on non weight baring orders from doctor. They refuse to work with you on rescheduling class and you lose your money. That is horrible customer service. I didn't plan on breaking my foot.

This review is only for their knife sharpening services. I took in over a dozen knives and scissors. One knife was clearly dull when I brought it home. Another knife and a pair of scissors were unusable within a few weeks. I will soon have to have all these knives sharpened again somewhere else. I haven't had this experience for 10 years. Since then, I've been to 4 knife shops and never had this problem. I think they have a wonderful shop and great service. Since they are dedicated to educating the public about cooking, one of the most important lessons should be appreciation of sharp knives. I hope they will improve their sharpening skills. By the way, if my knives were unusually dull, I would have had no problem paying more. I just don't think it makes sense to bring home knives that don't seem any better off than when I took them in.

I was visiting Overland Park from another state and bought several sets of non seasonal coasters at this shop in mid October. I changed my mind about 3 of the coasters (valued at $14) and called to ask if I could return them in late November when I'd be visiting again. The return policy States 30 days and my return would have been at the 40-day mark. The woman answering the phone put me on hold and then came back and said, "no absolutely not. We just cannot do that." We are talking about new, unused, still in the package items. We are talking 10 days after the time limit. Is really so good (bad?) That a poor customer experience is worth Culinary Center of KC's $14? What a disheartening experience.

I have taken two of the classes they offer here now. Learned how to make pasta from scratch as well as sausage from scratch. Both classes were a great load of knowledge and hands on learning. Will definitely be looking into more classes.

Horrible experience. They offer cooking classes but do not have enough parking to accommodate a Tuesdays evening class. I would expect the owners to know about the parking issue and ensure parking is available.

Signed up for their "Let's Nail it" event on Halloween. It was a great experience. I had watched the show on Netflix so I was excited to channel my inner creative side & do something fun for a date. They provide all the ingredients, (even a 1 drink -alcohol or not-coupon). People are spread out evenly. Instructors wear mask. It's a fun environment. The hour we had to make our cake goes by fast. I will no longer judge the contestants on the show. I will look for more classes to take here. Highly recommend!! Great for date night, girls night, corporates/team/retreat event.

This is probably our 5th class but 1st during Covid. Very strict safety precautions and smaller classes. We did still get to cook at dedicated stations. Typically each person has a drink ticket and they can buy additional beverages. This class was full and lots of fun!
