A huge chain, general sporting goods store. Similar, but send a step above some of the other huge chains.
A little bit of everything, from soccer and golf, to skeet and camping.
They have some general cheaper stuff, but they also carry some unique items.
One of the only places in the region where I could find some more unique and higher quality knives. Not a huge selection, but better than a lot.
There was a bit of a wait to find someone to open up the cases and look at items ... But after a 30 or so minute wait, we got someone who was knowledgeable and helpful and interested in talking shop a little bit about his favorite options.
(A similar visit to another brand recently took more than an hour wait and they didn't have quite the same selection, although they did also have a unique item that was interesting.)

My sister recommended a particular brand of mosquito repellent and Scheel’s carries it for the cheapest price near me. I had never been to the Overland Park store before. I was very lucky to find a parking spot near the door. As soon as I went inside I knew I was going to need help finding the product. The store was very busy, massive and chaotic. I stopped at the information desk and the woman who helped me was very nice. I said it was my first time there. I got to the area of the store where she said it would be and again immediately overwhelmed. Suddenly a young man approached me and asked if I was the guy looking for the bug spray. The woman downstairs apparently called him and told him I was coming. I told him what great customer service that was.

Visited Sheels for the first time yesterday.
I was very impressed with the look of the store.
It was very clean and well organized.
Very well staffed with clean friendly and knowledgeable folks.

They sell returned items as new and don't even check them, go only if you feel like returning later.
I bought a vacuum sealer from here, turns out it was years old and very used. I didn't notice the box was taped up with scotch tape when I rushed in/out (they taped over the scotch tape before putting it on the shelf). It worked... like the 1/5th the price sealer I already owned. The buttons were flakey and the seals were all screwed up because it wasn't even packaged the way the manufacturer says to store it. The serial number was in the low thousands, on one of the most popular vacuum sealers on the market, YEARS OLD. It's food processing equipment, who just throws that back on the shelf without even a glance!?
This was almost a year ago. I only remember now because I need a vacuum sealer and the only one I have is this garbage they shafted onto me. I'd meant to return it but I lost the receipt or more likely just threw it away on my way out thinking this was a competent store. The sealer went into a pile of junk and turns out I don't have time to waste fixing Sheels mistakes. Honestly it's far enough away that $130 isn't worth it to me to ever step foot in that store again. Unless they pay me to deal with their clearly inadequate customer service, $130 is just tuition, to learn that this store is garbage. I'll be sure to let anyone that mentions the name Sheels exactly what it is, they can have a free vacuum sealer too (brand new by Sheels standards).
I will never return to or recommend this store. If you must go there be sure to thoroughly inspect your items because they aren't. Or do yourself a favor and just order online from someplace that won't ship you garbage that someone else used already.
