Boarded my 24 pound schnauzer and sent food because he's on a special diet and instructions. On the second day they called to tell me my dog was throwing up and ad severe diarrhea and he needed to see the doctor. Long story short I get home and all of his special food was in his tote bag untouched. My dog is as thin as a rail. They gave him antibiotics that he didn't need and charged me a doctors visit that wasn't necessary and didn't follow any of my instructions for his special diet they fed him some cheap food that made Sick. when I called to ask them why they didn't feed him his special food they said they did.....the food came back untouched....they denied that the gave him the wrong food and I was wrong, they blatantly Lied. So $500 later for 5 nights. they just wanted to upcharge me. Don't board your dog at Blue Valley Animal Hospital.

Excellent vets and caring staff!! I have experienced their care of my aging Lab Mix and also a very sick little kitten. I am a surgeon so I have high expectations, and they were met and exceeded by the Doctors and Techs at Blue Valley. Highly recommended and worth a drive!!

We bought a 'package deal' to spay/neuter and declaw front paws for 2 kittens and were charged about $1450. When the date of service arrived, we were told we were never put on the schedule. So took our money but didn't schedule our appointment. A month and a half later we are getting the procedure done. Now we are presented with a bill for another $400 for medicines. I would definitely recommend looking elsewhere for this service.

We had gone to Stanley Veterinary clinic near our home for quite a few years but became dissatisfied just prior to the death of our older female pug. We really loved Dr Pearson but she only works there a couple of days a week and we didn't want to see anybody else. I reviewed other Veterinary clinics near us and decided to go to Blue Valley in Sept 2021. My other elderly female pug needed her teeth cleaned so they suggested an echocardiogram. They said it showed some type of spot on her heart that was possibly cancerous. I'm a retired RN, BSN and worked with human cardiac patients and we've had pets that have had to have MRIs and CT scans before major surgeries. K State has a well respected Veterinary School so scheduled an appointment with a cardiologist and drove out there from our house in South Overland Park. My pug saw the cardiac specialist and they ran another echo. It was absolutely normal! Beside the gas and my time we also spent over $1,000 getting these two scans. The K-State one was well worth it. I no longer take my pug or my two cats to Blue Valley.

I have gone to this vet clinic for over a year now and my Cat recently received a case of ringworm from my other kitten. After bringing my cat in to be seen for ringworm and an upset stomach they never properly treated or prescribed anything for the ringworm case. Now the case has gotten much worse and we have it ourselves all over our skin. After paying well over $300 in vet bills, visits, and unnecessary X-rays to figure out what was wrong. The clinic now won't prescribe my cat an anti fungal medicine to help him get treatment, because they claim they didn't hear about it before and need him to be seen again which is yet another vet bill. Even though the discharge statement states the case of ringworm on the page. I called them yesterday and spoke with Nikki who gave me the go to call an anti fungal medicine in and they would approve of it. Now today they are telling me they need to see him again for proof? Completely unbelievable and unprofessional. This is the one vet I've experienced that just really wants to take your money. Will be switching vets.

Rude receptionist! God forbid they work 6 minutes past closing time. Don't try to apologize either because she will just hang up on you. I dropped my dog off at 7:30am since it's first come first serve and they don't call until 5:30pm to let me know that my dogs are ready to be picked up. So Yes ma'am you are closed at 6 but please give others grace when they are trying to get there as soon as possible.

1 star for same day appointments. ZERO communication between employees. I came here for a service for my pet who was insanely bloated. She turned out to have heart issues. She needed to be drained and have an ultrasound. That's perfectly acceptable. The vet tech and vet were kind knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. The day I came to pick up my dog was a different story. I came in to pay realizing I'd left my second form of payment an hour away in my work vehicle. I tried to split payment between the two forms to keep cash handy in my checking and the receptionist was condescending and abrupt. When I couldn't apply my second form of payment through the phone app, I was ten dollars short. Because of this $10, I was sent to a separate room (because apparently discussing finances in public is crude, or they simply didn't want customers to see how they treat those short on immediate funds.) I was fully prepared to spend $760 (what I recall having been quoted), my bill being 781.00. I notified the other receptionist exactly how much I had, and that my card was in my truck and couldn't immediately access it, but that I could pay the 771.00 in my checking then. (Also offering to post date a check for the overage missing) The woman who was the lead receptionist was incredibly rude. Acting as if she needed to sit me down to talk to me over $10. "The bill is 781.00" I was so frustrated and flustered all I could say is "I don't have it", thinking she already knew what I'd discussed previously with the new receptionist. I have 771.00 Apparently not. When I tried to further the conversation past this hurdle to; what are my steps and what are you comfortable with- the woman comically demanded the amount that I told her already I didn't have (781.00), I gave her my card. She ran it for 781.00 and responded to me "your card was declined" pha! Jesus h. "Yeah, because I told you I didn't have it" "Well how much do you have." (Obviously out of the loop) "771.00 like I told the receptionist up front" "Ok. So we'll take 771.00" What a face palm. Lead receptionist (tall, thin, inverted bob): (quote) "So, am I going to have to write this $20 off because you aren't going to call and pay it??" Instead of dealing with this like a grown adult might, taking my dog and returning to my vehicle to call and pay a measly $10. She made an immense effort to insinuate that I was absolute trash and wasn't intending to pay at all, much less the $10. I offered to post date a check to Friday for the $10 as well which they refused. They'd rather insult you than trust you with $10. 100%

My dog is a really playful dog and loves people. Whenever we leave him at someone else's house for babysitting hi is fine but as soon as we come to the animal hospital he starts shaking. They probably left him in the crate the whole day.

We are new to the area and we visited to bring our dog in for routine shots and a check up. A vet tech met us in our room, took our dog to the back for a set of shots, brought her back and took my credit card for payment. I had questions for the veterinarian who was nowhere to be seen. Had a few questions regarding a few patches on our pup's skin that were missing some hair. The vet tech's response was, "Yeah, I mean it's definitely some kind of hair loss." She didn't offer to go ask the doctor, I felt like we were in a rush and they were on to the next patient. $80 for shots and absolutely zero questions answered. Didn't know my dogs current weight, health status, etc. I will absolutely be moving to a different clinic where we see a veterinarian, not just an assistant. So disappointing and highly overpriced for the service we received.

Dr. Schreiber is phenomenal! I wish people would get this caliber of care from their healthcare providers! Dr. Leimer saw my kitty first and collaborated with Dr. Schreiber on her oral health needs. He performed her surgery. During the procedure he called me several times to keep me updated on how she's doing. He also called me the next day to check on her. She has been in so much pain and wouldn't let us pet her in the area of her head and neck because of her teeth and the amount of pain she was in. Now she's purring, happy and seems to be recovering so well thanks to the wonderful care she received. Thanks to everyone who took care of my little girl at BVAH. We are so grateful. Our puppy is next!

This clinic is horrific, the staff has zero clue on anything. Not only did a staff member shave the wrong leg, the surgeon didn’t even double check and did surgery on the wrong leg!! We’ve had soo many clueless staff member conversations this clinic is a mess. Yes they covered the cost of both surgeries ( wrong leg and actual hurt leg) but 23 weeks of hell isn’t worth it.

Blue Valley Animal Hospital is amazing! Everyone that works there is so accommodating and kind. My fur baby Owen felt safe and taken care of!
