I've been shopping for business shoes (not dress, not casual) throughout the Overland Park area. Tried DSW, Shoe Carnival, Kohl's, JC Penney, and several boutique stores. Decent selection in some (DSW), but no real help from store personnel and hard to find "wide" sizes.
To the rescue came Dillard's shoe department in the form of Caleb (not to be confused with Calieb downstairs). I explained what I was looking for and he not only found a great pair in wide, but they were even on sale!
If you long for the day when department stores had attentive, specialized staff in virtually every department, Dillard's is the place. Not currently in the market, I almost bought a new suit and tie simply because they had the staff to help - right down to the tailor measuring tapes draped around their necks. Old school and awesome.
Do yourself a favor and immerse yourself in a store truly dedicated to service - Dillard's. And be sure to look up Caleb in the men's shoe department. You will be very glad you did.

On May 15th between the hours of 5:30pm and 6:10pm, I was profiled at Dillard’s department store. I was shopping in the Lingerie department looking for bra’s. I was on the phone and there was no one back there initially. A store sales clerk(white woman with brown hair) approached me and asked me if I needed any help with anything and I told her, no thank you. I found 3 bras and went in the dressing room to try them on. I didn’t like the way two of them fit so i left my jacket in the dressing room (because I planned on going back in) to find a couple other bras. I left one on the counter and exchanged the others. As I’m going back to the dressing room I was in, she was coming out of it with my jacket and some bras that were already in there before I was in there asking if I still needed them and I told her they weren’t mine they were already there. She asks me while holding up my jacket was it mine and I say yes, I only came out to exchange my bra sizes, that’s why I left my jacket in there. I go back in and try a few other bras on and decided to keep only on of those as well. I come out to put two of the three bras back and she’s talking with the manager. I look around a little more to make sure I didn’t miss any other sales before I check out and she proceeds to ask me again, can I help you look for something and I said again, no thank you. She and the manager laughed, and at this point it was extremely past obvious that I was being profiled. I then said, I already said no thank you the first times. Thank you. The manager then proceeds to start being argumentative saying oh we were just asking in a rude way and continued going on about it and I said you know what, I don’t even feel comfortable over here I’m going to check out at another register. I walked off and found another saleswoman (short, light brown, older but not white or black) and asked if she was open and if it was ok if I checked out there and she said yes. I proceeded to explain to her my reasons and told her I was being profiled and before I could finish, the manager came way over to the register I was at, being rude and argumentative again and interjected as I was talking to the saleswoman. I told her I wasn’t even talking to her I came over to check out because I felt uncomfortable with she and the other saleswoman. She then blurted out to the woman that was checking me out, “JUST MAKE THE SALE!” And walked off. I then told the saleswoman , I was no longer interested in purchasing anything from the store and walked off. I turned back around to walk back and told the lady that the saddest part about it was that my family were card holders and she apologized to me. I tried calling corporate while in the store and was unsuccessful. I proceeded to leave the store but walked back up the escalator to get the managers name. On my way back to the bra section I overheard her discussing the matter with the first employee I encountered and two other customers. I approached her and asked for her name and she was upset saying she didn’t care, and that her name was Katie. I read her badge which read, Katie Bowness. She was still being argumentative and I told her I’m calling corporate and because as a manager her behavior was very unprofessional and very unacceptable. I walked off and left the store ama she still continued to discuss the matter with and in front of customers and the other employee which I don’t have her name. I’ve never been felt so small and so humiliated in my life. I work for a living, I’ve never had to steal. The fact that you all have employees working for your company that profile and discriminate against black customers is sickening. The fact that the manager was very dismissive, rude/disrespectful, lacked professionalism, and has poor customer service along with the other salespersons, makes me look at this company in a completely different light. I will be seeking counsel.

I went to return an item I had just purchased the day before. The lady at the register couldn't get the refund to go back on my card so she asked me to go to the service desk and they would take care of it for me. When she sent me to the service desk she sent me downstairs (the service desk was actually upstairs and on the other side of the store). It was closing time so when I got to the service desk I tried apologizing to the lady working and went on to explain that I was sent downstairs. She rudely interrupts me and says "They sent you to the service desk!" She then goes on to tell me that the jeans had been worn (when they had not been worn). She finally refunded my money after about 20 minutes. I will take my service elsewhere from now on!

I am so impressed with the attention of the employees greeting me every time I walked into a different department. I had the pleasure to meet Tom Uran, the Store Manager, he was absolutely great! What a great team they all make at that store, kudos!

The gentleman who helped me select place mats in the Home Shop was very pleasant as well as informative. And I found exactly what I wanted! I'd certainly shop in this department again.
