It pains me to write a negative review of Coleman Accounting because Bob is such a nice guy. But, if you’re looking for a company to process your tax return, I would suggest looking elsewhere. Not sure how many CPAs Bob employs (if any), but I’ve had nothing but problems with my very simple tax returns over the past few years. One year, my electronic return wasn’t filed. Another year, I received notices from the IRS pointing out errors in the return filed by Coleman Accounting. Again, Bob is a very nice man and I’ve enjoyed visiting with him. But nice doesn’t guarantee a successful tax return.

Not sure what the low rating is about personally. I've had great service since day 1.

I’ve been working with Bob for the last four years or so and he’s been great. He explains things, educates and directs you in the right direction and makes the whole process of filing taxes less stressful.

We emailed our tax documents to Bob in February 2022. We sent several emails to him and he assured us in April 2022 that it was "on his desk" waiting for him to "sign off" on it. After we sent an email to him in May saying "we need to hear from you by the end of the day whether our taxes were submitted," we got a call from one of the accountants that works for him asking all these questions that made it sound like they hadn't even started our taxes. He finally submitted our taxes in mid-May 2022. There was a Federal penalty (around $5) and a Missouri penalty ($200). To get me to pay the invoice, Bob said he would take care of the penalties. The Federal and Missouri penalties showed up in the mail. I contacted Bob. He refuses to pay them. He says we should have been paying quarterly payments all along to Missouri because of taxes we owed. He should have known we were going to owe after being informed of a lucrative sale of one of our properties (he was informed of the sale of this property in 03/2021, but made no mention of the requirements for Missouri). His lack of integrity is disappointing. After saying he'd pay the penalty and not being man enough to keep his word shows you what type of practice Bob runs. He should be ashamed of himself because he is a poor communicator, poor accountant, and a liar. You are a fool if you choose Bob Coleman to do anything for you, but especially your taxes.

You are paid to be an accountant. Accountants inform their clientele of tax stipulations and rules concerning the state he/she lives and does business in. There is a pattern of lack of notifying and communication here that is further compounded by lack of organization, Bob. Not paying penalties for your mistakes, missing large items on tax returns multiple times that should have been caught before you “signing off” on it (homeowners insurance on multiple properties in 2018, City of Kansas City tax return in 2019, HSA contribution in 2021, quarterly payments for the liquidation of assets in 2021) filing taxes late without applying for an extension, ignoring emails, getting calls from junior accountants that work for you that are oblivious to what is going on. This was not the first year I’ve had to send the “Bob, haven’t heard from you after sending multiple emails about the status of my taxes. If I don’t hear from you by the end of the day, I’m going to need to find another accountant.”

Nice guy but I explained my tax situation in detail to him on a phone call. Bob assured me they could file my taxes. Weeks later after all documents delivered Bob called and said his team was actually "too nervous" to file my taxes, and "don't want to screw it up." My situation isn't even that complex. Pretty disappointing and to pull out of a commitment to file taxes at the end of February when there isn't really time to hire someone else. Note that Bob is not a CPA, but he does employ CPAs -- just seems like they're pretty junior CPAs that don't have a lot of confidence or experience.

Bob is a friendly gentleman. I interviewed a few tax consultants and Bob was the best. Good with my children when we brought one in. We enjoyed our visit. If you’re a real estate investor it seems Bob will know how to save your dollars from Uncle Sam.
