I was renting a car this location. The manager is one of coolest person I have ever seen in my life. There was another customer that reserved a car and his card declined due to credit score, what I understand since he didn’t have a credit. And the manager was keep telling if he had another card. The guy freaked out and became mad. Insulting the manger but he never responded him a word what a patience. If it was me. it would have been totally different. But Avis corporate should send email the customers before they go agency’s.

The car was filthy! There was trash under the front seats, dust on the dashboard, the floor boards were dirty. When the trunk was opened, there was the packaging for a 24 count of water and the water bottles as well.I chose to pick up the trash as I didn’t want to be charged a cleaning fee.I called and filed a complaint with the corporate office. They didn't do anything. There was a leak in one of the back tires. We had to go out of our way to fill it up everyday, due to the tire being dangerously low on air.

Avoid !! Unprofessional !!Prepaid and booked a rental , took uber to this place to pickup vehicle just to hear they do not have any car available? What a joke and waste of time. If you don’t have vehicle , why would you send booking confirmation?

Asked for a luxury car and received a Toyota Camry that the road noise was so loud we couldn't hear people in the back seat. Not a Luxury Car!

Similar to another review I saw on here, I reserved a “Camry or similar” car with a debit card on file for a weekend Colorado trip. When I arrived at Avis the staff was rude and would not let me use my debit card. I’ve used my debit card for other rental companies and did not find ANYWHERE lined out on the Avis website that a Credit card only was required. He ended up refusing to let us rent, which by the way he was gonna lend us a Jeep Grand Cherokee which is nothing like a Camry and would have been much more costly in gas. Last minute we called Enterprise and they hooked us up immediately and saved our trip. Although Avis did refund us eventually, it was costly and limited what we did on our trip. If you are deciding on what to rent, RENT ENTERPRISE. They are much more accommodating and have infinitely better customer service.

Unprofessional, unorganize, got the wrongvehicle, vehicle was dirty, no walk around, and etc. They gave me a mini van when I reserved an SUV. After correcting their mistake. The representative said our names looks alike.Wrong!!Why didn't you double check the reservation code?I filled the gas to full before I dropped off the rental. I got charged extra for fuel because I missed it by 2 gallons. Scammers.I should have read the reviews before renting from this place.Dont make the same mistake!!Go somewhere else!!

The other reviews are spot on. This Avis location is suspiciously out of date, and the staff seems unorganized, unfriendly and uneducated on their own systems. Very slow to process anything. It’s a dingy office with living quarters directly above it. One employee was wearing a Target shirt. Was not confidence inspiring and I will not rent from this location again.

Absolute garbage. Such a bait and switch on pricing. They just keep saying the same thing over and over even though it makes zero sense. Even their receipts don't back what they're saying. I've always used Enterprise but in an attempt to save money I learned an even more expensive lesson.

NEVER rent a car from this place. They are scammers and you’ll have way more issues than it’s worth. I had to dispute a $700 charge because they don’t do their job correctly. Super unprofessional work stuff, and customer service is a joke. I repeat, NEVER rent a car from Avis

Rental from Merriam KS. Car had dents dings. Filled paperwork to acknowledge dents dings. Left place, car smelled like dirty socks. We took our truck for repairs (hence the reason for needing a rental). We went to pickup a repaired vacuum and opened the trunk and dirt was in the trunk. The store in Olathe said to go to the airport because that was the only place a car was available. We got to the airport and we were told the car could not be exchanged. Our time was wasted. So we'll go back to Merriam in the morning and trade out the car. Please be sure to check the car before leaving the lot. Brake rotors are warped , car surges when braking, windshield wipers need replaced. Smell is awful. Bad experience.

Worst experience of any rental car company I have used. I would not recommend this company. Reserved RAV 4 $38 ended up with Camry for $100 per day w/o my authorization. My bill was a lower charge than what came out of my account. Customer service was zero help. All tree of the different people I spoke to said I would have to take the car back to the location I got it to resolve the situation with them. Not possible! Got the car in Kansas but was in Georgia when I saw my bank account! My trip was to go to my son’s AIT Graduation for the Army and due to the outrageously unexpected charges, my funds were severely limited and only had enough money to get back home. I know I’m not the only one to have a terrible experience, just read the reviews! I’m giving one star because it’s making me to post.

We picked up a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee to take on vacation. The car only had 1/2 a tank of gas, was dirty and not cleaned between renters including a pack of cigarettes (we don't smoke), and the check engine light was on for our trip. We asked immediately about the gas level since Avis states boldly that they will charge $10 per gallon if they have to fill it. We were told to bring in the receipt when we dropped the car off. A couple of days into our trip, we checked the oil to find it a quart low, so we added a quart and retained the receipt in hopes that Avis would do the right thing when we turned in. Fast forward to turn in and prepare for the disappointment, Avis did not step up. They said to hang on to our receipts and mention it on our next rental and they may consider an upgrade for us like Sirius radio. I have never considered a deluxe radio set up worth $65 for two weeks. Car did well...Avis not so much.

Car was filthy when picked up, I wouldn’t have excepted it but we were told only car available for our one way trip! Once in car we could tell it had been smoked in and even found 2 cigarette butts! Once on the road when trying to adjust the drivers seat it was broken and wouldn’t allow to adjust! After a long drive we came into a storm and it starting raining and then windshield wipers did not work! We had to stop multiple times for long periods of time to wait until rain stopped, which made us miss our drop off time so I was charged another day, I clearly showed the checkin guy the issues and he didn’t one bit said call the 800 # or go to counter, I went to counter lady was rude and said it wasn’t her problem call the 800 # so I did and nothing of help there! You asked for this review which I never do or have ever given a review in my life online or otherwise, but this was the absolute worst rental experience ever in any industry. And I travel for work and rent all the time! If I could give it a -100 I would.

I called the day before to confirm my reservation and, more importantly, that it would be a truck. They were able to confirm. I called again, on my way to the rental store to confirm my reservation as I was running a bit late. Confirmed. I show up, and you guessed it! No truck. The staff member offered no explanation or apology, and instead was accusatory of me. He kept asking who I spoke to that confirmed this, and when I said "I don't know her name, but it sounded like a woman." he said "We don't even have a woman who works here." Keep in mind, you have to go through about 10 minutes of robot prompts to speak to a person. He began clicking around on his computer to "find a truck at the North KC location" and after a few minutes of nothing, I call the North KC location myself, and they answer on the first ring. Before leaving, I ask if he can cover my Uber fare, or give me a discount of my rental. His response? "I don't have the resources to offer that. The reservation is at North KC now, so I no longer have access to it."

Made a reservation, when I arrived they were very busy with just one person working. Had to wait a very long time to pick up the vehicle. I had reserved a intermediate suv, they didn't have that, so they gave me a full size suv for the same price, but I did get it because I was going out of town and fuel ended up costing more than anticipated. When I returned the person working the counter came out and looked the vehicle over and took the keys. NO mention of any problems or concerns. So imagine my surprise when I saw the charge on my credit card. They overcharged me by $110. Said fuel was low, but I filled up about a mile away from the drop point. They charged me for a Road hazard that I never needed/used, and I was charged for XM/Sirius radio, that I didn't even know the vehicle had, little less used.Only giving 2 stars because in the end, customer service was helpful in resolving the issues, but keep a close eye on your charges.
