My wife and I drove up from Hutch to Marquette (cool little off-the-beaten-path Midwest town!) in our Corvette this morning to celebrate the last day of summer, and to visit the Kansas Motorcycle Museum (and the Smoky Valley Distillery across the street). We had an amazing experience at both venues! The KMM is impressive in scope, despite its relatively modest footprint. I've been into motorcycles all my life, and saw stuff today I didn't even know existed. Stan the Man Engdahl and his wife LaVona must have been very, very special people (may they rest in peace). Their museum is world-class, in my opinion, and is well worth the visit if you're anywhere within striking distance - you won't be disappointed.

Located in the old Engdahl Radio & Television shop is an amazing museum of HISTORY which includes several racing motorcycles that Stan Engdahl used and basically hand built. Stan and his wife Livonia lived across the street and were well known fixtures in the town and area. Stan was a great racer that raced all different types of AMA racing including Short Track - Half mile - Mile dirt tracks and he also raced AMA Road Races. He had great success in all he entered. Stan would be proud of how this Museum has grown. The museum also has some of the Pressgrove brothers Kenny and Paul both were very accomplished Pro dirt track racers and had factory help from BSA. Other Kansas racer stuff is there from the Dusenberry family and others. The antique machinery is plentiful, clean, shiney, and well displayed. The volunteers curate with their knowledge and always take added remarks from fans as they are gracious and open minded to always accept more information about whatever they have on display. Motorcycles have not been around as long as Marquette has but this town is just about that age. Plenty of historical items in the Kansas Motorcycle Museum and its location off the beaten path is a welcome ride on a motorcycle or car, truck or suv. Visit once, and you will return. What a gem this place is. Found in the middle of nowhere but totally worth a stop. The gentleman who started the museum was a races and he won about everything, the trophy collection is impressive. While there, don’t forget to get some homemade ice cream next door.

Wonderful museum to a dying sport (because of commercialism & big money) taking the private racers off the track! Hope home states keep racing local & open to all!!

I was really impressed with the collection of wonderful vintage motorcycles. There were several manfacturers that I have never known. Well worth the nominal suggested $7 donation to walk thru the museum.

What a great museum. We were traveling on Rte 4 across Kansas and saw a sign for the museum and thought to check it out. We weren't disappointed. The museum has a larger variety of motorcycles spanning many years! It's run by volunteers and it shows how much they love bikes. A definite must when any where near Marquette.
