We just had the WORST experience with a rental company, Heritage Builders also know as Kansas Lumber Homestore, in Manhattan Kansas. We worked for an entire week to get our old place in good move out condition. We have lived there exactly 2 years. Today during our move-out we were told we would be charged for HALF of our deposit for cleaning!! And trust me, we did not leave this place dirty!! I have ALWAYS gotten my deposit back every time I move. We even paid for a professional cleaning company to come and clean our carpet and bought brand new drip pans for the stove & more! The carpet looks better now than it did when we moved in. We do not have pets, either! They even want to charge a crazy fee for new lightbulbs??? On top of that, the trash bags we sat out neatly for our trash company to pick up was picked through by people & our neighbors cat tore many of the bags open. So, an additional $100 for trash removal. They will post the rental property with a low amount and after you look at the unit they will up the price from all rental websites they use. Then after every year they will raise the rent. The apartment location is 530 Yuma st. by the time we moved after 2 years we were paying over 800 a month with nothing included. They have a studio apartment in the basement and you can hear everything.
