Regarding owner Rich Haig of Westside 66 in Lawrence, KS, I had a nightmare experience there and I wouldn't recommend this place at all. I went in to get the window motor replaced on my car and his mechanic left my car key turned in the ignition, with the dash lights on, and didn't come back for like 20 minutes. I was walking around, waiting for the repair to get done, and I heard the beeping in my car and went over and saw the dash lights on and that the mechanic was gone. I was aware he had been gone a long time and was worried this would wear the battery down in my car. I waited a few minutes and then finally I took the key out. I waited to see if the mechanic returned but he did not and I even thought he may have went to lunch, he was gone so long. I found him inside the gas station casually talking to someone. I find this irresponsible. I respectfully complained about this to owner, Rich Haig, and he became angry, didn't believe me and ordered me off his property, telling me to wait on the sidewalk, off his property, like I did something wrong, although I did not. When I didn't stand on the sidewalk but stood about 400-500 feet away, silently, waiting for my car to be put back together, Rich wouldn't allow the mechanic to finish - and I had to call the police. When they came, they spoke with Rich first who made it look like I was in the mechanic's way, which I was not. Vindictively, for my calling the police, Rich had the police no trespass me, as if I did something wrong, although I did not. The police did so but were sympathetic with me and even advised me to report this to the Better Business Bureau. This owner, Rich, is a jackass and if he thinks you're getting service from him and it's paid by a social service, he may disrespect you. What responsible mechanic leaves a key turned in an ignition (causing the dash lights to come on) and walks away for 20 minutes -- and what responsible owner would respond the way that Rich Haig did? None.

Regarding Westside 66 auto repair in Lawrence, KS, I had a nightmare experience when I went there to get my window motor replaced. The mechanic started working on my car, which was parked in the parking lot, not in a bay -- and I left him alone as he did this, with my walking around off the property. I heard a nonstop beeping from my car and noticed that the mechanic had left and he left my key in the ignition with it turned so that the dash lights were on and he left for a long time, like 20 minutes. He was gone so long, I thought he went to lunch. So, I took the key out of the igniture (so the battery wouldn't run down) and I reported this to the owner, Rich, who didn't believe me, became angry at me and accused me of bothering the mechanic while he was working on my car, although I did not. Rich then ordered me to wait off the property on the sidewalk until my car was finished which was disrespectful and not how he treats other customers. I didn't but I stood about 300 feet from the car and stood silently waiting for them to finish my car, but owner Rich wouldn't let his mechanic finish my car because I wasn't on the sidewalk and he told his mechanic not to work on my car but go on to the next car. I had no choice but to call the police. When the police came, they spoke with Rich first who lied to them and told them I was bothering the mechanic when he was working on my car, although I was not, and I had to tell the police the truth. I went to McDonald's and was walking off the property when the mechanic was working on my car and I only returned to my car when I heard nonstop beeping from my car, and the mechanic was gone, leaving the ignition key in with dash lights on. Rich told the police he wanted me to be be no trespassed from the property, not because I did anything wrong but I know because I called the police and so I was. But the one cop did sympathize with me and told me I should make a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

The people working here are always so polite and helpful. They are very cheerful, even when working in the extremes of our weather. I have used them for tire repair for a few decades now and I don't think they charge any more now than ever. It's not a fancy place like the big chain retail repair shops, but they are always well stocked with whatever they need to get us back on the road.

Good people, which isn't something I always associate with auto shops. They helped me get my car running same night after an accident even after Triple A had screwed me over and they could easily have told me to wait until the next day. Also as someone who really doesn't understand cars, it was a relief for them not to talk down to me or try to take advantage of my position.Highly recommend, they absolutely saved my @ss AND were kind as wellService: Auto tire replacement

West side 66 is more than a gas station it's a car care center. They offer full service at the pump and they will check your oil and air up your tires and check all your fluids while you're getting gas. They have ASE certified technicians to take care of your automobile needs. And one big thing you will notice is they provide air for their customers for free.

This is the best mechanic shop in Lawrence. Rich is kind, honest, and an all-around great person on top of being a highly skilled car detective. I have been a customer for years, taken many different cars in, and always been pleased with the service. There are only two bays at the shop, so sometimes the wait list to get in is lengthy, but I assure you it's worth it! These guys never disappoint!Services: General repairs & maintenance

So kind and helpful! Richard was extremely accomodating; he not only came to my residence to diagnose my failing starter but also gave me a ride back home after I dropped my car off at the shop. I called first thing in the morning on a Saturday; they had same day availability and my car was running again by the afternoon. I would 100% reccomend their services.

I had heard good things about this shop. I decided to take my 95 Ford F150 to diagnose my intermittent starting condition. The truck was at the shop for 3 days. Each day I called, the owner , Rich seemed to be unavailable(he was working on my vehicle). Each time I was told I would be called back. I never was, instead I had to continue to call. I finally got ahold of him, and we agreed to replace the battery(it needed one anyway). I told him that the starting condition was pretty easy to reproduce( it is), If anyone were to spend a bit of time on it. I don't believe any considerable amount of time was spent on my truck, even though it was there for 3 days. He also told me to call back if I reproduced the problem and was stranded, and I did, only to be told by the cashier he would call me right back, which never happened. I never received updates, tests he said he would perform he did not, and the unreliability of the front desk person and the owner are the reasons I'm giving this shop 2 stars. I wish I would have had a better experience. I heard they were much better.
