“St. Johns is really one of the best places to shop in Lawrence. The things that you fins are often of very high quality, especially clothing. The prices could not be better. In fact most reasonable prices to be found. The beat of the best, nothing else really compares! And the ladies are always kind, helpful and sweet as can be!”

“Much has changed over the years. The Social Service League Thrift store has never been more beautiful and organized. It has high-quality donors and wonderful customers. Customers of all ages are always saying, "this is my favorite store". The store is run by volunteers who work all week with programs for the disadvantaged, and on Saturdays for sales. The volunteers get nothing but good karma and the satisfaction of knowing they are helping people through the programs. Board members, volunteers, employees (when they have them) get no discounts, no first dibs, no advantages over customers. The SSL has been in existence in it's original form since 1863, and in it's current location since the ealry 1900. Note: this is a biased review: I love the place.”

“LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!!!! Doesn't look like much when you see it from the outside. Every time I go here I find shoes I love! Bought 5 pair one day! They even had a pair of P448s that seemed brand new and I got them for $75!!!! If you post a photo and tag them on IG, you get a discount!!! Also, they have all these higher sized shoes that are unique, so if you are a size 11 women's, you are in luck!!!! A large selection of high sized feet, too! Love this place! It's worth your time!”

“Well, I've been remiss in stalking and lurking my favorite thrift stores! I found out the salvation army store had moved! Personally, the former location was dark and grotty BUT treasures could be found! Off I go to the new location which is east of Haskell on 23rd. WOW! I was wide-eyed and mouth agape! It's bright and clean! So much better organized and lots more treasures! I strolled around for a good hour just looking. It's really an upgrade! The store also features daily specials like "Tuesday-2 books for 1.00" (which I duly noted). Clerks are very friendly and helpful (they were at the former location too). As I departed I noticed a bbq place pretty close. Pretty sure I'm going to have to try it! If you're a thrifter this place checks all the boxes!”

“Goodwill has a nice system of donating goods. The employees are friendly and helpful. It's annoying when people behind you get out of their cars and start hauling their stuff in, clogs things up. People have zero patience. You'll find a good selection of clothing (according to my wife ?) and their prices are reasonable. Plenty of books to choose from. The only down side is the bathroom is closed. Hard on us old guys. Changing rooms are closed as well.”
