“I have an experience with God here that lifted a ton of weight that I have been carrying. I think I cried for an hour and a half and was met with complete love and compassion.”
“My family and I were accepted here with our newborn son and 2 other children. At the time Cheyrl was the director. I loved her. She was really awesome. This place was awesome. We had our own full bathroom, family area, eating area, bedroom, refrigerator, stove and appliances. They even gave me a bed for our 3 day old baby to use. After losing our things to bedbugs over at Restart, Harbor Life donated lots of things to my family. From there we were accepted into transitional housing through Mt. Carmel Redevelopment Center because the Harbor Life was closing. After staying with Mt. Carmel for a little over a year my family and I were able to get back on our feet. Kansas City Kansas is the best place to be when you're down on your luck. Salvation Army Shelters aren't here in Evansville Indiana where we now live. I see homeless people all of the time and it saddens me. I use to be in those shoes. I try to help but the resources here are limited to almost none. Its a different world here. I wish I was home in Kansas.”
“I became a member in 2008. The congregation gave me peace in a trying time of my life. It’s actually the first church that I felt spiritually connected. I relocated some years ago and I still consider myself a member. There’s no other church that I have attended since that I could relate to in a way I had with Oakridge.”
