My family was stationed at Fort Riley six long years. After we left Fort Gordon I was desperate to find a pet shop that allowed my kids to enjoy animals. We found this gem! The owner allowed my kids to learn about many different types of pets. We have been gone now for over a year and have yet to find another place that holds a candle to this store and the owner she is a wonderful loving lady who is passionate about all critters. I have four pet rats, two cats who are now seven and five years of age I bought from her, three pythons ages 4,3 and 2 all bought from her store! I get compliments weekly on my pythons and I give her all the credit, they are my most beautiful three out of my eight! And as far as anyone on the reviews talking about the smell… it’s a pet shop not bath and body works…. I always found it to be very clean and well put together and we went there more often then I’d like to admit just to look around?

Love the way Ms Dorothy handled my Chi (Lady) on her 4th b/day!

Rating is more a reflection of the “new manager” rather than the store as a whole. I’ve been getting frozen rats here for my pet ball python for months before this guy started working here. Twice now, he’s gotten super argumentative and confrontational with me all because I feed my snake by weight, rather than eye-balling it’s size. The second time (today) he even told me I should shop somewhere else just because I was specifying what size and weight rats I wanted rather than the ones he was trying to give me. Dude really needs to learn how to talk and work with people.

To be honest, I was excited to visit this store because of the pictures of the puppies. However, the store is filthy and has a very strong odor.I do realize Junction City is in need of a pet store but it is worth the drive to Manhattan to be in a clean environment.

Owner is on the Humane Society's worst 100 for her own puppy mill. Do your research and do not buy from a pet store.

This pet store is full of supplies and various pets. The owner is extremely hospitable and made both of my visits extremely pleasant. The kids absolutely loved the pet store as there are friendly cats lazing about and two rather large tortoises roaming around the store. I highly recommend this store for all pet owners.

I love the friendly, caring staff and the furry door greeters! They have done some redecorating and lots of new items. Very knowledgeable and willing to find the answers they don't know.

My husband a retired veteran, me an RN went to see a puppy today, and Dorothy was not there, and we ask to see a puppy and the rude guy there told us he would not take the puppy out because it disturbs and stress them, but if we were willing to buy for 3,000 w/o holding the puppy or inspecting the puppy he would. We have bought 5 puppies from her and she always let us hold the puppy. Maybe he thought we didn’t have the money, so my husband said we will never go back there again and we will take our money elsewhere. We prefer not to give our money or business there anymore.

The lady that was working was ALWAYS friendly, helpful, creative, and understanding.I shopped various times for various things. On the rare occasion I didn’t find what I needed nobody had it.While there is a smell when you immediately walk into the door you can see immediately to your right puppies and kittens in the back. I just struck the smell up to babies that haven’t been potty trained.Things could be presented better, but I think ultimately a bigger place with more shelving would be ideal.I will miss the lady dearly. While she was allergic to birds she was always there with a smile and I showed her mine and she was excited for updates along their egg journey.

Wanted to share this on Google as well.I have seen some bad review about many places and sometimes these things are based on real events and sometimes people just like to complain while not enough people (especially these days) offer praise. Because of that I took some time to talk with Ms. Dorothy, the owner, to find out whether these scathing reviews left by others were founded or bogus. When speaking to her I found her extremely down to Earth, knowledgeable on her breeds, and well informed. We initially went in to grab up a few treats for our furry family members and after a few visits of the same upbeat, positive experience, found ourselves adopting a puppy from her homey store which felt inviting and gave off a more familiar, less corporate-y vibe. Dorothy was involved with the puppy's health even after taking her home and remembered her by name which we found very warm about her. I pride myself of thinking for myself and invite you to do the same. Thank you for Rhea! She is happy, healthy, and a little bit mischievous.
