I had a cat that was in trouble, breathing 70 breaths a minute. I called the answering service on a Sunday and they had "Dr" Haggard call me back. Instead, I got a voice mail from him, and I called him back. First, all he wanted to do was argue with me about my phone settings, and why it went to voice mail when he called me. He was a little arrogant, and seemed annoyed that I had bothered him on a Sunday, but I felt it was an emergency. He said 70 breaths per minute was "normal" and if I wanted him to see out cat on Sunday, it would be about $450, effectively discouraging me from bringing him in. (I think he might do better selling phones at AT&T). So the next day, I went to a real vet that tested the cat, and found out he had a fast moving lung disease, and it died the next Sunday, Thanks for nothing "Dr" Haggard. A couple of years ago, our other cat lost half her body weight, and when I brought her in, they felt around and said "Yup, looks like she's got intestinal cancer." I took her to a real vet for a 2nd opinion, they ran some tests, and found it was something else entirely, treated her, and now she's back up to full body weight, and as good as ever, no cancer, never was. I've used this office for 33 years, have brought dozens of pets into them, and always paid on the spot, thousands of dollars over the years. When Ron Lee was there it was a good place to take cats, but I won't recommend it to anyone anymore.

I'm so disappointed to write this because I used to go to Eudora regularly until I moved away. My dog has a soft tissue sarcoma on his foot which has been removed twice and then was part of a clinical trial at the Veterinary Center at KState. The trial was unsuccessful and the doctor said his leg needed to be amputated. This has been almost a 2 year process to try to save my dog's leg. Well the price and distance was a lot for the amputation and KState told me I would be totally fine to contact a vet closer to home who could do the surgery. My current vet couldn't do it so I called Eudora because I really liked them when we used them and it was my impression this type of surgery was not a difficult one for them. I spoke with someone at the office who said they could do the surgery and I sent all of my dog's records. They said I didn't need a consult beforehand and that the doctor would review records. I talked to them again before the surgery and asked if they needed anything else or if we were good to go. They said everything was fine. I showed up for the appointment and was pulled into an office and told, rather insensitively, that they would not be performing the surgery on my 15 year old dog. I became upset and asked why they couldn't have told me this before I showed up for my appointment. I cannot express enough how scared I was for this surgery and how much time and energy has gone into the treatment for my dog. Neither the vet nor tech were compassionate with me as I cried in their office. I was told that my dog had reached his life expectancy and would maybe die anyway. They unwrapped the tumor which currently has a sore (and is what makes this surgery so urgent) and then left him on the table bleeding. Why on earth would they want to unwrap it if they weren't going to do the surgery? I wasted a week waiting for this appointment that could have been spent finding a place for my dog's surgery. I had to ask them to wrap his foot which was bleeding and sore. I am so sad and disappointed for how we were treated. The vet actually left the room without fully explaining anything to me. I gave them all the information they needed to make this decision before I drove to them and I'm so sad that this was the result.

I’m a truck driver. I called these people since my dog started throwing up and may have a possible obstruction. One told me xrays would be a couple hours another said they couldn’t do them since the doctor wouldn’t be in. Didn’t seem to really want to deal with after hours.

The best! We have senior cats and Eudora has helped us deal with routine care, injuries, and emergencies. Always great. Won't go anywhere else.

Going elsewhere from now on, after years. The vet either developed an attitude problem, or maybe just stopped liking us. The past few times we've been in there he's been a j****

I have been taking all of our pets to Eudora animal hospital for many years when Ron Lee was there we've never had a problem. Then they started getting more and more doctors in then we use dr. George Schreiner for most of our pets and he was good. Well I took our Pomeranian down to see doctor Haggard because Misty's vet was not in at that time, he seen her and right away diagnosed her and said she has severe problems she may have Cushings we need to have a test she has extreme enlarged liver and spleen and she doesn't have a good life left. So I was ready to have her put down. I took her to dr. Tim at the Baldwin companion Hospital and he said let's do a ultrasound before we have her put down I said okay let's do it. When he did the ultrasound he said there's nothing wrong with this baby nothing-at-all. I was very upset that my dog was misdiagnosed again and it cost me $800 dollars to boot. This wasn't the first time my fur babies were misdiagnosed. Dr. Haggard in Eudora is the one who seen her and I'm sorry I always loved to write good things about people but I believe that this was wrong. Also Misty has trouble with her trachea about a month before this and I have mentioned it several times but dr. Haggard thought it wasn't bad enough and just put her on antibiotics. Misty had an attack with her trachea and I didn't know what to do and she was still on antibiotics for it so I called my brother-in-law and he said let's take her to Baldwin to see doctor Tim. At that time dr. Tim was coming back from Arkansas and he said bring her right in I will meet you there this was at 9 or 9:30 at night by the time I got there Misty had stopped breathing when I got there my brother-in-law and dr. Tim rushed her in and he immediately start giving her shots and IV fluids and Misty came out of it and he saved her life and he said the trachea is a problem and we will probably have to put her on medication to keep it open it is bad enough to do that. So again Misty was misdiagnosed because her trachea wasn't bad enough and I almost lost her so thank you Doctor Tim for saving my dog's life. Needless to say all four of my fur babies now go to the Baldwin companion Hospital.

LOVE my vets! Eudora Animal Hospital's doctors and techs are great to work with. They are kind, helpful, practical, and my entire menagerie (horses/dogs/cats) always get great care. Prices are reasonable too, which I really appreciate. Desk staff are friendly and helpful too. All around great place to take your animals. I live in North Lawrence, and they are worth the drive. Always available after hours, because, well, everybody knows horses will NEVER colic or get hurt during business hours. ha ha Highly recommend this clinic!

My family and I have been taking our animals here for years, when I moved I tried other vets in Lawrence but was never as satisfied as I was when visiting the Eudora vets and I happily make the drive.

Dr. Schreiner saw us on Christmas Eve when two of our dogs got into a bad fight and they were the only clinic open in the Lawrence area. He was nice and took care of our dogs so we didn't have to drive to Overland Park.

We had a situation where a horse's leg could have been fractured it was a late in the day call. The doctor's made every effort to come to our barn and assist us with this situation. Even though they had other priorities they changed their schedules around to help us with this horse. Dr Haggard did great job explaining the situation, our options and upfront on costs involved. He followed up on a regular basis and made a couple of trips. Very happy with this Hospital's service and Dr Haggard is awesome! Melissa LLR

When visiting here, we were treated as if we were an inconvenience and waste of time despite having scheduled an appointment in advance. I brought my very small dog in to receive a rabies shot and to inquire about some dental surgery that he needed done. My dog has received several shots at Petco clinics and another vet before and he usually whimpers, but has not had any problems before with them before. When the vet came in to administer the shot, he was not concerned about treating my dog with any care at all. My dog screamed when the doctor administered the rabies shot and my dog ended up peeing on the table from either being startled from it or hurt by it. I wasn't really bothered by that itself, but then they failed to try and even clean it up and instead had my dog sit and stand in his own pee puddle for the whole rest of the appointment. I would absolutely NEVER leave my pet in the care of a facility that makes my dog stand and sit in their own excrement. I was horrified. When I asked concerned questions about if my dog would do well under anesthesia for his surgery since he is only 4 pounds, I received a very irritated comment from the doctor saying that he takes care of animals for a living and I shouldn't even ask that question. I have researched online and even experienced vets express that small animals have higher risks with going under anesthesia. I did not feel that my business was even wanted there, they expressed no interest in reassuring a customer who is worried about their pets well-being. The whole attitude from the employees was 'rush you out as quickly as possible and just get your money'. I've never had a worse experience from a vet in my life.

Makes you feel as though you are putting him out for calling for care for your cat that was attacked by 2 dogs on Friday at 6:30 pm. Very quick exam of cat saying it's just "puncture wounds" and there is "no internal injury" from his squeezing around, asking if we hear the air and cleaning our cat with peroxide. I call again Sunday morning at 8:30 and then at 10:30 & again 30 minutes later when he did not return my call. He they REALLY made me feel like I was putting him out & said that I needed to wake the cat up to see if it could stand on it's own or I'd just be calling him again later! And wanted to make sure that I knew I'd be paying the emergency fee plus an exam fee again, as well as for bloodwork so would be $300 just right off the bat to bring him back in . I was asking to bring him back in for fluids. We were dismissed and told to give him Pedialite and bring him in Monday. Our cat died Sunday afternoon at Blue Pearl around 3:45. Had you told us Friday that we should get him to a clinic where they are equipped to handle an emergency and the fact that you can not diagnose if there are internal injuries without sugery, our cat may have had a chance.
