James has helped me out on several occasions. Doesn't give up until it is fixed right. My car was a pain, his persistence found the problem and my vehicle is running like a champ. Great experience!!!

Alternator went out on my car. Every place I called said 2 weeks before they could get an appointment scheduled. Called and James got my car in right away. Had it back in a day. Allowed me to buy my own parts, also did an oil change. Very fast. Will go back again.Services: Oil change

Fast, HONEST service at a fraction of the cost of nearby competitors. I dropped my van off at 9 AM with several needed repairs (spark plugs, coil replacement, valve adjustment, sensor replacements, oil seep and more) and it was finished by Noon the same day. I saved tons of money and time by having my work done here. He quoted an honest hourly rate and stood by it. This was my first experience here and I will be back for any other auto work I need from now on.

Tried to use their services to fix a screw in our tire, called to ask confirm this is something they would do and all they said was "No" and hung up.

This is going to be long but I really want to get the reasons across as to why I will never take my vehicle anywhere else. EVER!I've been taking my vehicles to James Auto for about 20 years. I lived in Arkansas for all of them until 2 months ago but I would drive all the way to James Auto if I was having a real problem with my vehicle. The first time I went to him, I was visiting family in Eudora for Christmas. I knew I needed radiator fluid but I had a leak in my radiator so I just kept filling it with water. I got stranded at one sister's house when my Jeep was at my other sister's house and I knew it was supposed to get down to 2 degrees that night. I was maybe 23 or 24 and knew nothing about vehicles at the time (still don't really) but I knew if I didn't get radiator fluid in my Jeep before it got dark, I was going to have a very expensive fix on my hands. The sister who drove me to her house refused to drive me back to my Jeep and said, "it'll be FINE!!!" When I got back to it the next day it was FAR from fine! I called the closest auto shop (James's) and he was such a huge help and blessing. He came and hauled my Jeep to his garage at no cost (even though it was only about 4 blocks (most mechanics would charge a good amount for that). My Jeep was a 1993 and there was talk amongst my family of whether or not it had freeze plugs and if it didn't, I was going to need a new motor. I have been ripped off by nearly every other mechanic I have ever been to so I was definitely expecting to have to pay for a new motor (whether I actually needed or got one or not). Instead, after James inspected my Jeep, he called me down to the shop and very patiently, nicely and respectfully explained everything that had happened and that he needed to do while showing me under the hood. My Jeep DID have freeze plugs. He had to remove the entire motor to replace all the freeze plugs and all the hoses. He was having issues finding a place that had the freeze plugs I needed and with one or two of the hoses. This guy did not give up and did not charge me for the extra work and driving to get the freeze plugs and hoses (since it was Christmas Eve). Instead, he worked for hours in the unbelievable cold and charged me less than $200!!! If I remember correctly (and I'm pretty sure I do) he only charged me $183 for all that work! I've never in my life believed a mechanic EVER deserved a tip but this guy did ( and got one). He could've charged me $2000 and I wouldn't have known I was being ripped off.Just about a month ago I had my check engine light come on and my care was running horribly. I knew I needed an oil change so I made sure he was going to do that. James got me in quick and within 3 minutes had me in the garage showing me what the problem was and explaining everything he was going to have to do. I had a cylinder filled with oil (apparently that's bad, lol) and the oil had gotten around all the other cylinders. He explained he was going to have to raise the motor up and everything it was going to take to fix the problem. I could tell how much it pained him to tell me he was going to have to charge me $100 for the labor plus the cost of the new cylinder and a few other small things. By the time it was all done and ready to be picked up, my bill was $253 because once he started working on it, he would notice something like the spark plugs (that were the original ones on a 2010) that needed replaced and a couple other things. He called me every time he came across something and told me how much more it would add to my bill to make sure I was alright with it BEFORE he did all the work and then billed me some insanely high total I'd never be able to pay.My point is, James is not just an honest mechanic but he truly cares! He goes above and beyond and sometimes I think (I'm actually pretty sure) he will shorts himself on the labor because he knows his customers can't afford much. He is a truly rare find in the world of mechanics and I don't know what
