tl;dr: john’s body shop provides subpar work, and refuses to stand by their subpar work that fails within months of completion. quick to take customer’s money but not quick to resolve customer complaints. owner, mike trabert, doesn’t seem to be involved with the business at all.so, to start, if i could give john’s body shop of dodge city a 0 star review, i would, as they are not deserving of even one star in my opinion. now, not only was the wait list extremely long, (which i understand is out of their control), they also held my vehicle for much longer than projected. once they got my vehicle on january 9th, 2023, the initial estimate of time they would have it was 2 weeks. after these 2 weeks, they failed to update me on the status of the work being done on my vehicle, i had to call them repeatedly and was given the run around by their in-house receptionist, or burke, (which i have no idea of his position). then, in the words of my insurance company, john’s body shop had intentionally purchased an aftermarket part without acknowledging myself or my insurance company. initially, my insurance company refused to cover it, and when speaking with burke, he had told me that it would be my responsibility to cover the part that they had went out of their way to purchase without my knowledge. a week later, i get a phone call from burke that an agreement was reached and that “they” (john’s body shop) would cover the remaining balance on the hood, but, that a part inside my vehicle’s passenger door was broken, and i would be responsible for this instead. it seemed like quite the coincidence to me. i did not receive my vehicle until february 10th, 2023, almost double the initial projected time it would’ve taken for the repairs to have been completed. when returned, there were panel gaps galore, and they did not hook my windshield wiper jets back up when installing the new hood. initially, i didn’t complain because i was so angered and disappointed by their poor business practices and lack of customer service and just needed my car back. but, less than 3 months after receiving the car, i noticed that the paint began to peel on my bumper. john’s had provided me with a pamphlet stating that they offer a lifetime warranty on all work done at their shop. i made multiple phone calls, all of which i received the run around, or my phone calls were simply not returned. so, i returned to john’s personally on multiple occasions, they photographed the paint failure, and promised a call back. when they finally did contact me on september 11th, 2023, they told me that they would cover the cost of the parts, but i would have to pay labor expenses for the job they messed up! BURKE HAD ALSO SHARED WITH ME THAT JOHN’S BODY SHOP DOES NOT IN-HOUSE PREP THE SURFACES ON BODY PARTS THAT ARE SHIPPED TO THEM, RISKING POOR PAINT ADHESION. i refuse to give this business anymore of my hard-earned money, and i’m warning everyone reading this, absolutely DO NOT take your vehicle to john’s body shop if you need your vehicle repaired promptly or correctly. i am extremely disappointed in the work completed on my vehicle, and i feel like i’ve given them ample opportunity to make things right with me. i’m the last person to make a bad google review, but after almost 1 year of being screwed around by these people, i don’t see any other way to settle this. john’s body shop will provide you subpar work and will refuse to stand by their subpar work. i will be including a photo of the paint failure below.Service: Body & Trim

These guys are so helpful! We were stuck at a gas station with a dead battery on our car, he boosted us and had us follow him to the body shop. We had a car full of people. They offered us to wait in their waiting room in the ac so we wouldn’t be out in the heat waiting for help. Definitely have not lost all faith in humanity! Definitely 5 starts for these awesome guys!

My car got side swipped and ended up looking bad! John’s Body Shop in Dodge, took it from bad to looking new again!’ I just picked up my car today (6-19-23), and it looks awesome!! You want an honest shop, this is the place m. So honest when I asked about why the insurance company was paying less than the estimated cost, they flat out said the insurance company said to use after-market parts, not oem parts. Great service.

They did excellent work on our crown Vic quite some time ago and they came right back and straighten up some things for us? we highly appreciate them after I left them yesterday I was in good spirits till I got a phone call and found out that my better half car got totaled out? i didn't get a chance to get it over to John's body shop but I don't think they can fix this one? but the bread wagons going over there to get some drivers door work done on it☺️ and it's good price so I'll look in to see them before next Wednesday ☺️

SERIOUSLY the absolute, hands down, best customer service I have ever recieved. They turned an awful situation into a breeze. They took care of everything and helped explain everything clearly from my accident. All with a smile on their faces.. Also my car looks better than before.. Amazing work!
