I had a small storage unit for over a year at around $80 a month. It was paid on time every month. Last month they raised the rent to over $130. They sent no specific email or notification to let me know. They put the rent increase inside my monthly email statement. I didnt open my statement because 1. it comes about 2 weeks early and 2. All it said was monthly statement and I had no reason to look or any idea my rent was going up. Inside the email it just said "next month your unit has a rental increase", didnt even specify the amount. I had no way of knowing about the increase until I was auto billed. Called and talked to a employee about pricing. They said they would look into a lower price and call me back. Agreed the increase was huge and that there were bigger stirage units available for the price i was to be billed or less. I Waited 10 days and no call. Nothing. When they didn't call back I decided to cancel, when I called to cancel the guy kept trying to sell me other units. I had to ask three times to please cancel the unit. Horrible customer service and ridiculous prices. When I went to clean the storage unit there was a dead mouse and mouse dropping all over the front of my unit and my enclosed storage tubs. Disgusting!!! We checked my boyfriends unit and found droppings in his around the corner from mine as well. Not a clean place. I stopped by the Urbandale/Windsor Heights office 3 times to talk to them and they were always gone during business hours and the be back at time sign was always either wrong or after waiting 30 minutes or more for them to return at the time on the sign they were not there.

Chad was an amazing customer service representative. He was nothing short of patient and kind when I was having some overall problems with StorageMart customer service, in general.
I give Chad a 5-star review, hands down, however I would give StorageMart 3-stars so far, which is why my overall review is 4-stars.
EDITED TO UPDATE:
Chad did not properly apply promotions and I’m now locked out of my unit. This experience has been a HUGE NIGHTMARE. Cancelling this scam of a service.

Only issue I had was finding my unit. It was in a hallway that was not marked on the outside of the building. Other than that, everything was great! Unit was clean a the lock provided was secure! Would higly recommend. Just add signage to the outside of the building next to the hallway door for the inside units.

Don’t do many reviews but this one was worthy as everything went great! Rented two lockers last Thursday and was in/out in 20 mins (including seeing the units). Worked w/ Patrick- couple clicks per unit in the emails he sent and done! Be nice to him and you may get to ride in his golf cart to see your locker!
Stacked to the ceiling, I filled a 10x25 around 2/3. Thinking remaining space plus 5x15 would be enough for what the company who stored our things up to then told us what was left. Its a big unit… I underestimated. But by the time I figured that out, still had a full rental truck that needed to be back soon. Patrick there again- he did quick transfer of smaller to larger unit, applied money already paid, and was unloading again in about 10 mins (got truck back on time too)!
UNITS/PROPERTY- Clean, raised floor, easy access, and they even had locks- yes, you pay for them but I’ll always take that convenience! Maybe they all do that, don't know… guessing you can bring your own.
PRICING- close for us so didn't really shop others . They had ‘FREE month’ promotion still going as of yesterday. Excluding that, still think reasonable.
For us, StorageMart (and Patrick) won the weekend!!

This storage facility has more than met our needs while our family is moving. The facility is clean. The staff is helpful. The rates are fair. We rented 3 units and got a free month on each of them.
Easy access right off i235. Open late 10pm. I would most definitely recommend this place for your storage needs!
