Thank Ya Lord! I’ve been saved! Today a KC boy suckled on a diet of Arthur Bryant’s sauce and toothed on his brisket was truly baptized by transmogrification of BBQ. I was anointed in the spicy sauce and smoke of the Waukee ‘Kue’d. The wife and child, I mean liberated woman and collegiate young woman took pity on me and steered me to an online menu. While readying myself for the norm of mediocrity of two-hour-old carry out, I gave them my order for a Boy’s Plate Combo: a 1/2lb of brisket, 1/2lb of chicken (DON’T BELIEVE IT! AIN’T NO CHICKEN EVER TASTED LIKE THAT!!), Spicy (JUST RIGHT, NO SWEATING) Sauce, BBQ Beans, Mac’n’Cheese, Potato Bread, and PICKLES (capitalized—NOT to be confused with pickles—sorry Dave). And I ate. And then ate. Then cried a little when I started to see the bottom of the 9x13 industrial pan my order came in. (Except the sauce…some Brink’s type fellas in an armored tank followed’em down with that…). Succulent, savory, tender, juicy, FLAVORS and TEXTURES—each different and incredible filled that holiest of receptacles. I wish I could’ve posted a picture. I’m from the Show Me state after all, but alas, (poor Yorick…Remember? This is paralleling dyin’ and finding salvation? Yeah. Try to keep up here. I’m yur typical redneck, unedukated hillbilly, after all…), I ate it. And I’m planning’ on sinnin’ again (eating’ something frozen and pulled—like those companies do your leg tellin’ you it’s frozen BBQ…) just as soon as my taste buds return from Nirvana. And the wife or daughter heads north again. Give me till ‘Cued in Waukee opens again tomorrow. If I don’t die and go to Iowa. North of DEZ MOYNES. I mean heaven. Pass that Plate ‘Cued! True evangelical BBQ mana, ambrosia, and mead. I, and this part of the Midwest is saved.

Don’t blink when you’re driving on Hickman in Waukee because you’ll miss this lil gem and you DO NOT want to miss out on this amazing BBQ! The nachos are incredible and I’ve never been disappointed in their (for good reason) award winning meats. The dine in area is small and not for large groups but ya know what is — their catering!

Last week the beef rib I was served was one of the worst things I had ever been served. It was pure fat. I understand that beefs ribs are a fattier meat, but there was literally one bite of actual meat. They should not have served me what they did.

As BBQ fans, we always seek out new spots when visiting an area. We found Kue’d because of being featured on BBQ Pitmasters. Some of the best BBQ meats in recent memory for us! We had the BBQ Sampler with ribs, pulled pork and smoked sliced turkey. (Husband was very disappointed that brisket and burnt ends were already sold out - our bad for coming too late!) Ribs were fall off the bone tender, and the rest was juicy, tender and full of flavor! Seasoning was fairly pepper-forward so it came with a little zing. Sampler came with choice of three sides, we kept it traditional with cornbread muffins, beans and Cole slaw. All were standard, tasty but nothing groundbreaking. We tried all the sauces before getting our food but honestly the meat didn’t need it.Value for what we got was amazing! $35 + tip for a ton of food and two sodas!Service was good - standard counter ordering, and they bring your food to your table and check on you once or twice.Atmosphere was definitely set up for a heavy takeout crowd…small place with simple tables - with half the space used for storing extra supplies and boxes. A little weird but it got the job done.Wish we lived closer - this would be a regular spot for us - probably for takeout.

Great food, very attentive staff! We were bummed that they were out of brisket and burnt ends. We heard those were the best, based on that fact, sounds like everyone else thought so too!

Kue’d Smokehouse is the best food in Waukee hands down. Not to mention fast and friendly service every single time. Which is impressive, as I’ve been there dozens of times now. Great place, can’t recommend enough.

I had them cater lunch for a meeting in West Des Moines. Brisket, pulled pork, Mac n Cheese, and Kue Salad. All of it arrived hot and delicious. Delivery was prompt and the on-site setup was perfect. They helped create the lunch atmosphere my event needed. I have not eaten onsite, but I can't imagine it would be any different. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. 10/10.

We have used Kued breakfast catering for many years now and they never disappoint. The food is incredible and they make the process so easy. We just used them again for our family gathering after our son’s baptism and it was a hit as always! Would definitely recommend.

Probably my favorite BBQ in the Des Moines area so far. Their meats in general are good, but I think their chicken is much better than other places around
