Balkan Cafe & Grocery is a hidden gem in Waterloo, offering an authentic Bosnian food experience. The food is incredible, delicious, and decadent, with fresh items made in the morning like the soft and savory Burek. Popular dishes like cevapi and Grah are also highlights. The bread served is delicious, like pita but slightly fried. Sides like the fries and cabbage salad are excellent. They also serve really good Turkish coffee and have a unique selection of bottled drinks from across Europe. The service is very fast and friendly, with the owner being extremely helpful in explaining the menu. The seating is limited due to the small space, but the vibes give a comforting “back home” type of feeling. The cost is incredibly reasonable. Additionally, the cafe has a grocery store with a decent range of hard-to-find European goods, allowing you to buy what they serve. It is a cute little place that is a pleasant surprise and comes highly recommended. Customers definitely plan to come back.
