“An amazing thrift store where I always find something I want! Everything here is always so interesting and fun to look at. I did take one star off because I do feel like some items are priced too high but overall this store is amazing. Honestly, it's my favorite in des moines!”

“Could not say more amazing things about this shop. Jerrica does an amazing job at bringing in guest vendors but also has in-house vendors — all of who have great taste and an ever-changing supply of fresh vintage. So thankful to have her in Highland Park! ???P.S. loved the Alf trading cards I found there recently. IYKYK!”

“Man, what a cool store! This was one of things we absolutely had to do while in Des Moines. The store has two levels and both have a lot of really fun vintage stuff to look at. There is everything from trinkets, clothes, dishware, magnets, and everything else you can think of. They even had free wine on the day we went, what a treat! We really enjoyed walking around this store and ended up getting a set of Korean made coasters! We did use the vintage vending machine for a mystery prize too. Overall, this is such a fun store to walk around and look at things. The prices were pretty reasonably for pretty much everything too. All of the staff were super friendly as well!”

“One of my favorite stores in the East Village! They have a fun selection of antiques, new items, cards, plants, planters, holiday, & more. The customer service is always wonderful.”

“Nicole and her staff do an incredible job! Very helpful in answering questions and offering an exceptionally high quality experience. Also, they offer an impressive collection of modern (new) and vintage pieces. All of the items I’ve purchased are my closet favorites, and many are from brands I hadn’t heard of previously. (Thank you for educating me!) Preservation is an absolute gem (and can ship out of state—very convenient!) Go immediately. And follow them—they have a strong social game.”

“Petals & Moss is so lucky to be under the ownership and creative direction of Shawntel Noel, self-taught plant enthusiast! The shop has a fresh new vision and I am excited to see how P&M grows under her leadership. I also have a feeling I will be acquiring more plants, pots, etc.!!!”

“Beautifully curated store bringing new life to vintage treasures. Owner and associates all possess a true love for their finds and how to appreciate them in new ways within your home. Great corner location in a thriving East Village district. Must stop during your time in Des Moines!”

“Favorite vintage store in DSM and they are so nice there. They usually buy my vintage stuff for great prices and also have a sweet selection of items! I'm from DSM and live in NYC and it's really a better store than most I've seen in NYC!!”

“This shop was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our three-day trip to Des Moines. As it turns out - confirmed by the very helpful, friendly lady at this antique store - most shops in town are closed on Sundays and Mondays. She, too, found this both odd and disappointing. That said, I’m glad we stumbled upon the Raccoon Forks Trading Company on our mostly fruitless search for anything interesting to do downtown on a Sunday.I’m probably biased for my love of antique stores, but even still, it is objectively fun to visit. So much stuff to look at! I could easily kill a couple of hours browsing. Prices seemed fair - from larger furniture pieces to small trinkets and antique books. I wound up purchasing an early 1900s jewelry box for $25, which I’m very happy with.”

“it was amazing! Worker there saw my interest in things and talked to me about them, he seemed interested in my interest and that made me happy. Alot of cool things, im definitely going again. I bought a slipknot record, slipknot patch, a horror movie, and he gave me a slipknot sticker free! There was soooo much more i wanted and would get if i could afford :)”

“Always super tidy and well-organized. The dressing rooms are well-lit and sufficiently roomy. Great variety of sizes, styles, and brands…as evidenced by the fact that myself, my mom, and my daughter all love shopping at The Loft!”

“My favorite antiqueing spot in all of Des Moines! Always find something. The store is clean and well organized. The owner's are always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable!”

“Five stars for providing outstanding pickup service last-minute same day (due to St. Vincent failing to pick up as scheduled). I went through a huge amount of unnecessary stress thanks to St. Vincent. I would never donate anywhere else but here to this location again. The manager and the guy who arrived with the large Salvation Army truck were both very professional and just got it done! Thanks a million.”

“They have a TON of items that would be PERFECT for my daughters Homecoming outfit, but she is "top heavy" and most items from the Disco era just aren't made to accommodate large chested people. We didn't get the outfit, but walked out with some GREAT accessories! Plus Janelle (sorry about spelling) was SUPER helpful and friendly!!!! We will totally be back to finger through the racks of vinyl and anytime we need a period piece - because their stock is always changing!”

“I've had pretty good hauls from here. Selection is pretty large, and the store is well organized; not too cluttered but doesn't feel empty either. Also fantastic drop off system. One of the easiest places to donate in the Des Moines metro.”

“Since COVID, I hadn't been to Stuff Etc like I was in the good ole days so today was my first in a long while. The store had a lot to look at but it was displayed tastefully, not feeling chaotic and cluttered at all. Jewelry, clothes, hardware, bike rack, curtain rods, bedding were just some of the great finds. As if the great finds weren't enough, the staff went over the top. What was evident was that these people are happy with their jobs. They were all in great moods and went above and beyond to help.”

“I haven’t sold clothes at this location before; BUT for a shopping experience: this is probably the best Plato’s I’ve ever been to! The store is HUGE with such a variety. Great women’s jeans and men’s flannel selections. The dressing rooms are open, too! Check ‘em out! I was not disappointed.”

“Brought in a large basket, they passed on some things that were brand name but they were summer items and the season is over so I understand. The buy was done quickly and staff was polite. Store was organized and neat looking. Will be back.”
