I stopped in for lunch. The restroom had no soap or paper towels. They had no lids for the only size cup they had for drinks. The food was barely warm and the steamed rice was dry and hard. The dining area was very dirty with food and garbage on tables and the floor. There was no silverware left in the dining room. The garbage can was full and overflowing. Did they just give up trying?

Always have a pleasant experience when shopping for groceries at our Urbandale Hyvee. However, I am typing this review totally due to Customer Services. Krisi is incredible. I stopped by to ship a package and she went above and beyond to explain the difference between flat rate shipping prices and shipping using a non flat rate box. She then went the extra mile helping me get everything packed and taped up and ready to ship. I don't ever go into an establishment expecting anything other than "you get what you pay for " mentality but Krisi knocked that mentality into the outfield right away..... Home run !!!Kudos to Hyvee on having an employee like Krisi there. Beautiful soul inside and out.
Krisi, you are a gem. Thank you !!!!

I picked up prescriptions for my wife. Hy-Vee had increased to 90 day supply from 30 days without our consent or permission. Cost us $151 instead of $47 and will throw my wife into donut hole sooner that we had anticipated.

I went on $10 Steak Dinner night: large steak, baked potato, green beans and a dinner roll. Prices are fair and there are many specials for those who buy in quantity. Many hot prepared food choices.

Come on now. How does one ...share an experience at a grocery store!?! Aye ay ay.
Been in one Hy Vee.... basically all the same. Or Target, or Walmart or whatever...
Hy-Vee has a.large selection. Prices? Depends on what you're buying. Some other shops are more for the same item...or less.. depends on their buying volume. This Hy Vee is clean, spacious...as are others.

Great sales, friendly staff for the most part. Meat guy was obviously over whelmed. Told us our bundle would take over an hour to fill because of demand. Really didn't seem happy we still wanted, but another guy took over the order and had us ready to go in less than 20 mins. But other than that, pleasant experience. Loved the free samples, made us buy more than we intended lol.

Everyone knows Hy-Vee is not the place to shop when trying to save money. They have everything and are open most hours, you pay for that. Another thing you pay for at Hy-Vee is the privilege of buying food in the same place that dogs are allowed to relieve themselves on the floor. This morning I went to Hy-Vee Fresh for coffee. A woman brought in her Pomeranian, which left a huge mess two steps into the store. This was obviously not a service dog, just a crass dog-owner who thought it’d be cute to watch her mutt pee everywhere 2 feet from the donuts. While she made a fuss and excuses I interjected, reminding her that food was served here and — by the way — this was not the dog’s fault, but hers. In a blindingly insightful managerial swoop, the Beta-in-Charge emerged from the back (ostensibly where they keep the mops), scooted right past the dog mess and over to the register, so he could prioritize admonishing ME to be quiet. As we both watched that woman smear her dog’s mess all over the floor with a paper towel it occurred to me that I don’t need to shop at Hy-Vee. I’ve seen the exact same thing happen at their grocery store next door, more than a few times. Hy-Vee allowing customers to bring their dogs into a place selling food and defecate on the floor is disgusting, not to mention an affront to actual service dogs and their owners who truly need them. I left my coffee on the counter. God knows how dirty that probably was. ?♂️

The Hy-Vee on 86th Street is huge with an amazing selection. And they have a dedicated garden center for those who are inclined to grow things. :-)
