I hate to say it but this hotel is over-rated. Beautiful on the outside and when you first walk in- but very mediocre aside from that- for what you pay. Rooms are tiny and outdated. Pool area is nice but overcrowded. Couple things about the pool area- I understand towels staying low when it’s busy on a Saturday, and pool bathroom being a mess when busy- but we went down there again Sunday morning, no one in there- and there were zero towels and the bathroom was still disgusting. I had to go out and ask the front desk for towels twice and still waited forever to get any. The king bed was extremely comfortable but my kids’ pull out couch was HORRIBLE. I’m surprised the springs hadn’t poked all the way through- it was ridiculous. We were going to do the breakfast but after looking at it, it seemed like a pretty typical continental breakfast that should definitely be complimentary given the price you already pay for the rooms. Upon leaving neither person at the front desk said a word to us when we were clearly leaving- not a simple thanks for coming. You typically get what you pay for, but in this situation I feel this hotel is very over-rated for the price.

The hotel is beautiful and the swimming area was great. I booked a suite for my daughter’s 14th birthday party. They had a great time, and she and I slept very comfortably. The dining and living areas were great for the girls to hang out in and enjoy the time. The pool area is massive with a nice hot tub, and we had it almost to ourselves the whole evening. THE DOWNSIDE - I scoured the website before booking to see if there were rules about bringing kids to swim who wouldn’t spend the night. Nothing there, so I thought we were set. However, a few days before the party, I found out they are strict about number of guests and I would need to book a second room to adhere to their guidelines that are presented at check-in. I felt the price I booked the suite for was reasonable, but unfortunately the second room I needed to book was much more than the suite by that time (the cheapest available according to them - a standard room), so I ended up spending more than twice as much as I’d planned. I mentioned at check-in it would be better to have this info on the website, but was told that was out of their hands. Was not offered any discount, even though I asked and based on the parking lot and the pool area, the hotel was practically empty. Overall they didn’t seem thrilled to have our group there (though they were well behaved and respectful). Maybe they don’t really want to encourage in-town parties for the pool? It kind of made me think that. All that said, my kiddo loved hosting her friends so overall it was a win. We’d look at it again but might try to keep it to just needing one room.Noteworthy details: Fantastic large pool area with lots of seating and tables. Was easy to have pizza and cake in there.

The hotel was nice as were the employees. The bed was comfy and everything was clean. I was there for a little staycation and looked forward to the pool and hot tub. I was blown away when I went to the pool to find 29 young children from three different birthday parties filling up the pool and hot tub. I avoided the pool and slipped into the hot tub with nine children. After a couple of minutes I gave up. There were kids volleying a ball back and forth, kids jumping in making big splashes, and kids screaming, just in the hot tub. The pool itself was complete chaos..There was so. Much. Screaming. Parents were not watching their kids and not guiding their behavior to be conscientious about other people’s experience. Adult hour is 10 to 11 PM, too late for my liking. Additionally, the hot tub jets had almost no power. I made sure they were turned on, but there was very little pressure from the jets. As nice as the hotel was I’d avoid staying here in the future because being able to enjoy the pool and hot tub is important to me.

We wanted to have a nice relaxing romantic night. Don't go on the weekend. Pool is not adult friendly. It was over full of children. Looked like a water park. Loud and running around everywhere. They said there was adult time but not to 10 to 11. Didn't really die down much and didn't get to even use it. Disappointing since that was the whole reason we wanted to go. If you want peace and quiet don't get a room by the pool, it was loud. Hotel itself was nice but wasn't expecting a kid zone. Looks like the kids atleast were having a good time, they started back up the next day at 7am fml. Not the experience we were looking for.

Stayed here my wedding night with some of the party. I booked our officiants room over the phone and had the date confirmed three times in that phone call. The night of the wedding they say it was for the night prior and got a LOT of sass from the receptionist about it. So our officiant had to drive nearly an hour to get back home on 4th of July weekend. I emailed their managers about it who apologized and said they would be in touch. Yea, that was three months ago with still no reply. So I’m out $300 for a room that we didn’t even get to use.I would give you all 0 stars if I could, I’ll be sure to recommend any other hotel aside from here.

I would have to say the man at the front counter was rude. We had 4 kids that wanted 5 minutes to take a couple pictures before homecoming and he refused to let them take photos. There are lots of other hotels in town with better service, and I would never recommend this hotel.

So many better choices in the area than this tired hotel that provides subpar service - I would avoid staying here. It’s cheap but not worth the savings. Rooms are outdated and hotel reservation and room system fails regularly. Area is not walkable.

Let me preface this by stating that I do not normally leave poor reviews. We had stayed previously at Hotel Renovo in 2018 and had a fantastic experience we chose them again. However our most recent experience was a complete let down. When we arrived, we were told that they were fully booked for the weekend (There appeared to be a wedding going on) and due to that we would not have room cleaning services as readily available. We had the option to opt out of cleaning services so we did as they told us if we needed anything (or if we changed our mind) we could always reach out to them. Our stay was for two nights so we didn’t think much of it. Then before heading to our room I had to agree to the terms of about 20 different things on a list, basically stating that our children could not leave the room without us, and that they would not be left unsupervised. We were totally fine with that because why would you leave your children alone somewhere when traveling. We went to our room, and when we arrived, the room appeared to have had a very quick clean done on it. There were spots all over the floor, including the carpet spots on the wall, water damage to the ceiling and spots on the counters. I brought Clorox wipes, so I wiped up as much as I could as to not bother housekeeping. Then, we tried using remotes for our TVs and neither of them worked. We also asked for an additional pillow as we needed one more and the man that brought them to us seemed irritated that we were asking for items. He was also the same individual who checked us in.That night we continued to have more issues such as plumbing and ants. Our toilet wouldn't flush without holding the handle for several minutes. Instead of calling the front desk my husband fixed the issue. The ants however were unfixable and stayed in the bathroom and appeared to be coming up from the shower drain. The next day we asked to have additional sheets for our fold out bed as one of our children got a bloody nose in the night. I informed the front desk of this and the same guy from the night before, seemed a bit bothered that he was having to accommodate us. However, the young woman working the desk with him was a complete joy and delight to interact with. That same night we went to the hotel pool, while we were there, we found quite a few violations from the list we signed off. There were people smoking in the pool area and they flicked their cigarettes outside the door. There were also and handful of unaccompanied children at the pool that were acting recklessly and dangerously. One boy was on top of another boy and was physically drowning him in the pool, so I intervened. I yelled at the one child to knock it off as the other boy was chocking. The boy who was chocking had blue lips and said he was okay after he was above water enough to regain air supply. We returned to our hotel and I attempted, to call the front desk, but there was no answer. We checked out the next day and a different front desk person was there, but didn't say anything to us. He didn't even ask us about our visit.Overall, it would seem as though Hotel Renovo has gone downhill. Our next visit will be spent elsewhere, which is a real shame because our first trip at this hotel made it our number 1 hotel of choice when visiting DesMoines.

Never. Never ever again. My mother paid for our suite as we were getting married this past weekend. I booked the room online, directly through their website. When I arrived for check-in Friday afternoon, they asked me for a credit card. As I assumed this was for incidentals, I asked the clerk to confirm this. She told me that this was to pay for the room. I showed her my online receipt, listing the credit card under payment information. She told me this was because the room had been booked through a third party travel site and that any bookings made through them required a phone call to the hotel after online reservation to process payment on the card provided. A). This is not how online bookings work. B). I booked the room directly through their website, which it confirms via the email from HOTEL RENOVO. And C). A member of our bridal party also booked a room via their website and they charged her for the room in full at time of booking. Bonus! D). Prior to booking, I spoke to their onsite event coordinator Megan who told me booking online with their advanced payment option locked in a lower rate than my reserving a block of rooms for the wedding party. As I had to race to our rehearsal, I was unable to speak to a manager at that moment. I ran upstairs, placed my suitcase in the room, noticed a smell but thought nothing of it, and left for my rehearsal.Upon return, with now my mother to have her provide a physical card for the "payment", I went into my suite to relax before the big day. However, the smell from the bathroom was overpowering. My bathroom and suite entry hall smelled like vomit and excrement. This was because of a dried sewer trap. I told the front desk about the smell and the clerk followed me upstairs to act as a witness. She remarked at the stench and said she would get some Febreeze to cover it. (Can someone explain to me why this was even a professional option for a hotel that prides itself on being high end?) She then....never returned and never provided any further assistance. We ended up using the complimentary coffee bags to deodorize the bathroom for the remainder of our short lived stay.My wife and the bridal party had to get ready in a suite that smelled like coffee and hot vomit, where they discovered one of the TV's didn't turn on, a bed side lamp didn't work, and a front desk that refused to address any of this. As a final insult, my breakfast following the wedding in their $11 per adult nook was cold and tasteless. We checked out early. We will never use this chain again, I am extremely displeased with their rooms and service, and will be telling everyone I know about this experience

Working internet would have been nice for the amount of money we paid for our room.
