My spouse and I went in to purchase a new bed as it had been a few years and was long overdue. We initially went to the clearance section to look and then upstairs to where all of the beds were. A few days later, we chose a bed, paid for it and then went back down to the clearance section where prior days saw a clearance mattress of interest. The sales rep came over and seemed disinterested once we began to ask questions about whether we needed a box spring for the mattress. We showed him the bed we had just paid for and he told us we had to get a box spring for the bed, and then passed us off onto another sales rep and walked away. We then told her we wanted to make sure the mattress we bought didn't allow there to be a gap in between the headboard. She said no problem and go back upstairs and look at the mattresses up there but just know "those aren't real mattresses on the beds." My spouse and I look at each other like really? So we go upstairs and spoke to a sales rep up which contradicted both reps in the clearance section that WE DID NOT NEED a box spring for that bed and if the sales rep knew what kind of bed he would've said the same. We let the rep know he punched it up on his tablet and knew exactly which bed. When we first walked in the sign said "no commission" which should give the customer a better experience and not feel pressured, but after that bizarre display maybe Homemakers has them on a bonus based on pieces sold.
